1) haha, i forgot to tell you that CL is a judge! it was, in fact, her! 2) you asked if the geomungo was the same instrument we saw in hwasa's mv. it was not only the same instrument, but the same PERSON! as a hardcore moomoo, you don't even know how i yelled when i saw dawool in there. that tells you how popular the show was and how well the contestants are doing now, to know that he got in HWASA's mv. 3) i agree with your assessment of the performances. i put in each one for a reason, the first performance because of hangyeom's voice (which you noticed), the third because of the storyline of seulong and daon (the child), but the second (good boy) just because it's amazing. 4) the girl you asked about is moon sujin, she had a little fame before already, she did some duets with kpop idols i think. btw, you noticed that there are female contestants - there were actually NO women in season 1, so that's huge. 5) i hope that the parts that i was too lazy to sub were still entertaining, i left them in instead of cutting them out because i thought it was still interesting to watch them practice and interact and you were pretty good at interpreting the gist of it anyway. let me know if you think otherwise. 6) yeah i agree with the shift of tone for piano man, actually that's a reason why it's not in my favorite performances, i feel strange listening to that song delivered without at least a hint of bitterness. (with longing and passion: "and the microphone smells like a beer!!") and yoonseong isn't my personal favorite vocalist either (which tells you how stacked the vocalists in this season are). but hwangleen did great and it's in the iconic performances of the season, so def important to see. 7) this was great timing as i just attended the concert for this season last night :) it was incredible. hearing all of those talented musicians do their thing live. euphoria for the ears.

Oh wow I wish this went on forever. 🥺 this was so fun to watch. for me my favourite was the third one with daon. It just absolutely blew me away that they were able to do THAT with just 2 people and one of who prob has to be in bed by 9pm lol🤯 and yes! That's CL hahahaha

Kband day is always great, I enjoyed this so much. I love that they have female contestants this time around, and it was a nice surprise to see You Hee Yeol and Lee Sang Soon on the judging panel. It's so great to have the sub too, getting that context behind everything really adds to the performances for me. Looking forward to next month's!

Amazing selection of performances. Thank you so much Beks for the subs! It's nice to finally somewhat understand some of the parts that left me confused back when I was watching the episodes raw so it was so much fun to rewatch. Hangyeom is one of my favorite vocalists this season, his voice seems so mature for his age. But Good Boy and Piano Man are probably my favorites from Round 1, Good Boy for the rearrangement and overall performance, and Piano Man for the emotional nuance. Some of the contestants this season are known indie soloists and some are members of existing bands. One contestant that I think you might know is Demian!

There were actually no female contestants on the first season of superband. The first season was actually involved in some controversy because they did not allow women to audition and I remember the frontwoman for the popular indie rock band Se So Neon also came out and talked about how bogus that was. So the showrunners decided to open up the auditions to women as well for the second season. a wise decision.

Yes, Superband season 2 has girls now. It's no longer a boys-only club. They started with 55 contestants/musicians. With these 4 performances, you've only seen 11 of them, along with some more in the reaction shots. We've only just scratched the surface. I think you'll find that Beks and I like different things about Superband season 2 (we agree on our favorite final band, though). We like different main vocalists, with my favorite being the main vocal for the Piano Man performance, Lim Yoonseong. You'll see him again, I promise. I also love the electric guitarist, Nayoung. That's good we are a little different, because you'll see different things from us as we go through the rounds. If you missed it in his post above, Beks went to the Superband 2 concert last night! The final bands did a mini-tour in Korea. The Superband 1 bands did the same thing in 2019. I've been trying to find bootlegs.

Yeah I actually looked it up after recording this and saw that there were rumors they only asked for male auditions. Tons of female contestants this season!

That's such a damn cool idea for viewers of the show to see them live in the end. Also like how you guys differ a lot this season because it'll being variety and I'll get to see where my opinion falls more naturally. Thanks again!

yep, synthpop version, if you noticed a tonal shift with piano man, just imagine. the vocalist is one of my absolute favorites too and the producer/dj super talented as well, but it was a mistake. very popular with the judges though. in my experience disliked mostly by people who grew up with the song (and speak english natively) and know its meaning too well

Trust me, as someone who was a fan of the Cranberries in the 90s (I'm old), the round 1 cover of Zombie was not awesome. As Beks said, love everyone who did the cover, but the Cranberries had the angry Irish rock thing and the cover missed it. It's kind of painful. There are some misses in Superband performances. Not every performance is gold. Hopefully, we pick the highlights for you.
