Hi everyone, Andy here! I just got emailed by Patreon regarding Advanced Sales Tax Settings, even though it doesn't really affect me as a creator, it'll somehow benefits you and I both as patrons.

Due to new laws passing in several countries and the US, Patreon will be required to charge sales tax on some pledges. According to their statement, it'll be effective starting July 1st.

Me as a creator won't change the fact whether you'll be charged or not, it all depends on where you're currently residing in. Please keep in mind that not every pledge is taxable.

I'll try my best to ensure that I'm able to save you as much money as possible, that's why I'll be assigning the tier accordingly: Digital Downloads.

Here's several things to take note of:

The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws are paid directly to local governments.
Less than half of all patrons will be charged sales tax, and for most, the amount will be very small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.
If you’re in a location where sales tax will be required, you should expect to receive an email from Patreon with more information about this very soon, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of these changes way ahead of July 1st when they go into effect.

For more information regarding sales tax, please check here. If there's another questions, you're better of asking Patreon’s customer support team here

Thanks for reading!
