ahja...the arc that started my downfall XD

I remember I was really happy how readers reacted once they saw Hubbs back in the scene. Of course, their delight didn't last once they found out that it's a loooong road until we actually see him again...or get him back entirely :/

I thought this arc was overall pretty charming. Al, even though he's just a hardly sentient potato, is always fun to draw and to act. Could he be the new Gabby?

My husband recently had a discussion with me about the future of the strip and how to handle year 6. he proposed the idea of having the kids actually mature and so on (aside of other ideas I'm not getting into here and today). I'm not sure how to feel about the baby idea, tho. I kinda like them being babies and staying babies.

What do you think?

You already established that time is passing roughly the same as it is for us. We watched Sedine spend her 24th birthday tearing up the town before ending up in jail and then Hubbs and Ellie got married on Sedine's birthday in 2020. The others have also commented on their birthdays. That was a good rule of thumb until you paused to take care of some things last year and the single day of the Supper Bowl has occupied several months of real-world time. So time's no longer in sync any more. I think it comes down to if the kids aren't going to age any more, then you'd need to stop the adults from aging, too. But if the birthdays continue, the kids would have to grow at least a little.

I’m in either way, though change can be difficult to handle at times. It’s not unusual for long-running Shonen Manga to undergo a ‘Time Skip’ of a few years, accompanied by a soft reset of the Status Quo, to shake things up a little … 🗓🤔✨ … so there’s certainly precedent.

I think the Football arc is just so massive and complex, it's hard to wrap it up within a couple months or such. While other arcs in the past, even the bigger ones, usually were just meant to cover hours, maybe a couple days, focused on one set of characters. But the football arc has like several sets of characters to deal with (I think I counted 6 different sets, but it might be more...or less). So, yeah, that sure messes up the time flow. I think in printed form or as a binge read it would work better. As a daily strip...it was a misstep :/ But I get what you mean. the characters' birthdays were always meant as a joke and not so much as indication for time passing. But I see how as a reader it can look as exactly that. I gotta think about that :)

Thank you so much for your opinion. I didn't even think of a time skip itself. Although I'm not sure if that would work in the format we are in ^^" But still, worth the consideration :)
