And the last WIPs of the Japan arc. I was mentioning the strict WT guidelines  in the 'Kitten episode last week already. But, here we go again. This set of strips had our first flag on WT. Sedine's bun in the hot spring was censored because said comic was flag and pulled.

I always feel like I'm BSing people but...it's true. Feel free to check out the strip from September (I think) on WT to see that it's different from the actual artwork :P

Anyways, This arc was really fun overall, especially since I drew so few BGs and therefore it was like taking a small break. However, what you don't know, all the BGs were printed on nice paper and glued onto the actual strips. That was a little bit of a hassle, but worth the trouble for the final result.

The hat of the first strip....was an actual thing for hubby. Long, before my time with him, he went to Japan by himself and knocked his head on every obstacle that came in his way....until he purchased a cowboy hat with a strong brim that alarmed him on low hanging doorframes.

The little;e sign with Godzilla and the Cow was a sign I found on Google, looking for silly Japanese signs. apparently it means 'warning, animals are crossing'. I'm not sure if Godzilla really was on the original sign or if that was some neat street art and someone made that sign themself. But I thought it was cool so I added it :)

The Part Hyatt strip was an afterthought and meant to add a bit of romance to the whole story. If you've ever seen 'Lost in Translation' you might recognize the Hotel and it's bar. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend. It's rather gentle but captures the feel of Tokyo and Japan really well, imo.

Hope you like it. I'll post some more sketches and the next pin up as soon as I finish them :)

Loved this arc, reminded of the several times I was in Japan beginning in '70 and my last trip there was '96. Every visit, especially the 6 years I spent on Okinawa were really amazing, fun, educational and "which I could live there" experiences. Your wonderful arc brought all those great memories back. Thank you.

I'm happy to hear that. That arc was certainly fun to draw and I'm glad it captured the spirit from Japan well enough to trigger some good memories ^^.
