1/3 DONE!! ... whut?!?? (Patreon)

Maybe.

The subject rears up occasionally--where is this going??  For newer Patrons, this might seem pertinent, but we've explained it before on here.  "in SECURITY" has been mapped out for 5 years and 2+ months as a daily strip.  It began publishing on January 2nd, 2017 and is slated to "end" in March 2022.

"End" is merely a placeholder.  We have ideas for a 6th and probably 7th year at this time, but the BIG WORK is slated through early 2022.  The climax of what we are doing now is ultimately hitting early Feb. 2022, with a planned denouement through to March.

"End" means when we will cut back or stop, IF we can't make a livable income by that time.  "Liveable income" means $24,000/yr. minimum.  Presently we make about 1/3rd of that!  Not bad.  We might make it!

We began with hopes of getting syndicated to papers.  We are syndicated online with GoComics, but that's paying far less than we get on Patreon.  If we get syndicated to papers, there is usually a guarantee of $24K/yr. through the contract.  Cartooning is tough, now that papers are declining!

Since YOU are all investing in this project, I feel it fair to keep you all abreast of what we hope and plan.  After all, this platform is our major source of income at this time.

Even if we don't make it, Bea is determined to continue after 2022.  We plan, at this time, to at least do weekend strips (a daily and a Sunday) every week after the "end".  I have a slow-burning iron in the fire that might allow us to get a second income to allow us to go for years after, but it is speculative at this time.

Malcom Gladwell's "Outliers" book came to mind the other day.  He did a breakdown of the "10,000 hour rule", and if we go to 2022 we will be at the 10,000 hour mark due to "in SECURITY" and works we did before it.  Level up!  It was tough in the beginning and now it is easier, but not that easy.  By 2022 we will be seasoned experts at our craft.  I can't wait to see where we get with our skills and style.

Regardless, we hit the 1/3rd point!  Many thought we'd bomb out long ago.  On the contrary, we have just begun to draw!
