Gym Stage Adjustments (Patreon)
Content
Hi!
A stage play will take place in the school gym during Kizana's week. While testing and reviewing new assets created for the play, I frequently ran into problems due to the limited amount of space in the gym stage area. The walkway was too low, and the curtains were taking up too much space. It severely limited the way that I could position backdrops and props on the stage. Also, the walkway above the stage is so low that anybody in the audience watching the play can clearly see if anyone is walking around up there. In fact, anyone sitting in the front row would clearly be able to see the face of anyone standing on the walkway, which means that any "sabotage the play from above" elimination wouldn't realistically work out.
I thought to myself, "A lot of those problems could be fixed by raising the walkway. Could we simply raise the walkway?" But, then I realized how much work it would involve:
The ramp leading up to the walkway would have to be updated.
The ceiling above the walkway would have to be raised.
The ceiling of the backstage area would have to be raised.
The roof of the gym would have to be raised and/or extended.
The roof of the backstage area is a separate model, and it would also need to be raised, as well.
All walls connecting to those ceilings and roofs - interior and exterior - would have to be updated to reach the new height of the ceilings/roofs.
So many different individual parts of the school gym would all have to be adjusted and updated! I started to think, "Maybe this isn't going to be feasible...maybe the amount of work is too great."
...but, one of Yandere Simulator's modelers was up to the task! They accepted the responsibility, and made all of the necessary adjustments to the gym building - inside and outside - to accommodate my request of raising up the walkway!
As a result, the ceiling of the stage is now a full 2 meters taller (and the curtains have been moved, as well) which makes the stage much less cramped, and also solves the issue of "Anyone sitting in the front row would easily see Ayano on the walkway!" I'm so happy with this outcome! Perhaps it's not the most glamorous or exciting thing in the world, but I'm really glad that the gym was able to be updated in so many ways that make it more convenient for me to work with it, so I just had to share this information with you!
(Of course, the gym stage isn't the only thing that I've been working on lately; I've also made other additions and improvements to the game recently, which I'll discuss in an upcoming blog post.)
Even though I'm not focusing on implementing Kizana as my top priority right now, I'm actively requesting new models (and adjustments to previously-existing models) in preparation for events that will occur during Kizana's week. I hope it pleases you to learn this!
Thank you for supporting the development of Yandere Simulator!
