Chapter 42 is finally ready. The Onigashima arc is starting to get far too long for my liking, but it should wrap up within May or so. Chapter 43 will be released in a couple of days too. It will come with many surprises, so don't go anywhere until then.

See ya.

Hmm, no smut, but I like to think that'll be fixed next chapter. And it's not like this chapter wasn't eventful either. As always, I'm looking forward to the next one. In all seriousness though, how DO you plan to wrap up this arc in just 4-5 more chapters? Because from what I can tell, as things currently stand, Shirou needs to return to the women, get his arm and HP back by sleeping in a bed, f*** Rangiku, find the remaining sword fragments, reforge Doujigiri Yasutsuna so he can summon Raikou, f*** Raikou, defeat Shuten Douji and Ibaraki Douji (and possibly contract and/or f*** either or both of them), rescue Waver and Mikado, and get out of the Singularity so he can finally return home and f*** Saeko, Taiga, and I imagine Yoruichi. ...Yeah, he's gonna be VERY busy for the next few in-story days.

...So, just thinking out loud. I did enjoy this chapter, even if the pace of these last few story arcs has been a bit slow, and it has an interesting twist with Ibaraki's interest being piqued. I admit, not sure how the hell Shirou's going to go forward with only one arm, but maybe his ability to fix that is greater than I suspect. All of that said... I admit I could've just grievously misjudged her as a character (I've never rolled her and mostly know her through events), but I'd always thought Ibaraki-doji was a bizarre aberration among her people, with a sense of values more in-line with a human being's than an oni's. That it was a plot point in Rashomon that she didn't have it in her to *actually* eat Shuten, and that for all her biteless barking she tends to get along well enough with human beings and enjoy their food. Heck, I vaguely remember that she wasn't just camping on that mountain in Babylonia where you eventually fight her in that unlockable post-campaign mission, but ran into Humbaba there and was absent for the duration of the story because she and her bandits were battling it and preventing it from joining the war on the Goddesses' side. So, it's odd to me, to see that her "toying with them" last chapter *wasn't* necessarily her just being cranky after waking up and not having the heart to actually just murder them, especially when she literally devoured Shirou's arm. I *suppose* her letting him run could just be that; her finding an excuse to let him go even though she's trying really hard to be the nasty oni she wants to, but I just don't know. I admit, again, I haven't rolled her and mostly know her through events, so I could've easily just judged her dead wrong. Just... well, again, thinking out loud.

Can Shirou just... feed Shuten and Ibaraki an infinite amount of body parts? Use his time-compression bounded field, sedate the shit out of himself (or use some kind of time-delayed sleep magic), chop himself into mincemeat from the inside out in one fell swoop, and then sleep for 8 subjective hours to get a full body back. In 24 hours he could get a good number of bodies that way. He could even keep chunks in his inventory to throw out to distract Ibaraki (like bloody, human candies).

She's more affectionate--towards Shuten--than other Oni are, but absolutely divorced from any sort of caring towards human beings. Individuals, possibly, but it isn't the "caring" that humans think of, and she's fully capable of "caring" for someone and eating them, too. She might just be a bit nicer about it. Also, remember that one of her big reasons for not eating Shuten was because even with the Grail, Ibaraki was scared shitless of getting her angry.

I guess I associated that kind of thing more with Shuten than her, especially the "caring for someone but also wanting to eat them" thing. Guess I've got some homework to do...

I don't think summoning will be happening any time soon--that requires the power of the Grail or use of a Mana Cluster. Unless Shuten or Ibaraki kill a powerful enough Phantasmal Beast and he gets the cluster... but that would need to be deeper into the Reverse Side of the World than this to find one. Honestly, his best bet for surviving Shuten or Ibaraki would be to have sex with them before they eat him. Onikind value pleasure before everything else, after all. If he has sex with either of those, sex again with Rangiku might be held off until the arc ends, and his lovers/lovers-to-be in Fuyuki would probably be after this arc. You forgot to mention that he also needs to get the metal he came here for in the first place.

Ah, now there's the true horror that Fate Stay Night is famous for. Seems that's been missing from most FSN fics lately.

Shirou could. The moment he sleeps his Gamer Body restores him fully. Parts of his own body into the Inventory no longer counts as part of himself, so the Gamer Power doesn't reattach them.

Do you ever play a game, follow the main questline up to a certain point, thinking that you'll finish the side quests later, and then suddenly you are locked out of them? Yeah...

Fair enough, especially if you're at the point where you want to wrap this arc up. The only problem I can think of though is that Shirou really only has a single "side quest" on Onigashima, at least as far as I can tell. Everything else is either necessary in order to get out of that Singularity, or something that Shirou would never even consider giving up on. And as for the metal/ore that Shirou came looking for, who's to say that Shuten or a few of the Oni don't keep a stockpile of that stuff somewhere in their stronghold or something, and that Shirou won't just stumble upon it while completing the main quest? Though knowing him, he might just do that, only to completely ignore it because he's so focused on saving Mikado/Waver, or whatever his goal is at the time.

2Lazy2Name

I've never thought otherwise for even a second, and that rule applies to literally everyone. Doesn't mean that Shirou won't try if he gets even the slightest chance though. Especially when it comes to saving someone else. That's just who he is. Also, I realize he's literally being melted into what I can only assume is a liquor for Shuten Doji at this very moment, but... please don't kill Waver.

... Please tell me that Ibaraki will get to feel some Emiya in her... She needs to get some loving!
