Hey Evie, yeah this is a good episode to get some backstory on Ellie. I didn’t notice until I watched the show a second time that in the first episode when we see Ellie and Marlene talking for the first time, she mentions Riley and of course for those of us who haven’t played the game didn’t know what that meant. I also noticed that when Ellie first goes with Joel and Tess, I think the second episode, when she tells them about getting bit, she tells them that she was alone. We really see how close they have gotten when they were holding hands and every time I see that, I think about the first and second episodes and how cold Joel was to her. Only a couple episodes left 😩

The mall in this episode was in Alberta (I think) and had been closed down and abandoned for years. It was scheduled to be demolished after they finished filming.
