I think you could justify it with the idea that wireless charging became ubiquitous and a mat like that could just be used to recharge a shit ton of small devices at once. I think wireless power makes sense with the modular phones thing

Ok wait though, I'm so curious about Talita sighing. Does she use her vocal apparatus or her lungs? If she uses her vocal apparatus, did she pick it up from being socialized by humans, or is sighing a normal thing among centaurs like it is with humans?
