Terranaut: Sketches (Patreon)

Hello everyone, I had surgery yesterday so no digital art for a bit. But I made a couple of sketches before and after the operation for things I eventually will have to draw for the rough pages.

I decided that older generations of scuds are way more into tattoos and shell engravings than younger scuds, and the more you have the more authority you are assumed to have. In some guilds the youngest recruits are not allowed to have any. Unlike human tattoos and scarification, they fall of with the yearly molt and have to be refreshed.

Also, the “eyebrow” engravings that are so popular are not intended to look like eyebrows, but the forehead nostrils found on many of the scud planet’s vertebrates. To scuds, it’s just a cool animal aesthetic. Unfortunately the closest human equivalent i can think of is Naruto whiskers.
