I was thinking about some of the more mundane-ish GMO pets in Runaway to the Stars, and the one that immediately came to mind is giant house cats, because, well, I would adopt one in a heartbeat. I've yet to think of a snappier breed title for them.

Giant house cats come in a variety of standard colors and fur lengths, and the biggest healthy specimens top out around 100 pounds. They have retractable claws, but unlike their smaller cousins they have dull tips, a feature of how their claw coats shed instead of use-wear. They are usually very mellow and patient animals, less prone to anxiety and over-stimulation than small cats, but more independent and fickle than a dog. Most giant house cats have to be leash and behavior trained the way a dog is, as they need a fair amount of exercise and are too large and potentially dangerous to be left unsupervised. If left alone in a yard they either need to be leashed, or the yard needs a mesh ceiling and/or a 12 foot fence-- they can jump VERY high.

Big Babies!!! i would also adopt one of these in a heartbeat, and be completely okay with inevitably having my chest cavity crushed when they decided it was Nap On The Human time.

A megakitty would be a warm fluffy disaster of an animal.
