Hey friends! While I edit the tutorial for this one, I wanted to drop the project file up here and give you a little text breakdown of this one. For this project, I started by sourcing inspiration from door 3D models over on 3dsky.org. I found a particularly cool door model that I had to fix up quite a bit in Blender (it was a model from 2012 and designed for 3dsmax and not Blender!). I re-textured the windows and door frame and split one of the doors off from the main door to have it slightly ajar for my render. I pulled a few free textures from cc0textures.com to create the sand and the plaster walls; however, I sourced a cool wallpaper image of some tropical plants and worked to mix it in with the plaster walls to get a cooler, peeling wallpaper effect! I also created a displacement map for dunes in World Creator and brought it in as an .exr in Blender to displace the background terrain. I then made a couple linked duplicates of the dune terrain to fill out the background scene. I think this one came together super well! With this project file, you get some cool stuff - including the dune displacement map, the wall texture, and the re-textured door.

You can download the .blend file here:

Stay tuned for the full-length tutorial/breakdown on this one! I'm currently editing that one and am working on another downloadable project file for you on here with all the awesome rock photoscans I got last week! I also took a ton of photos of waves that I'm working into transparent files to use in your scenes

They'll look like the waves you see in the above render I made a while back! I'll release a whole pack of them that you can easily drag and drop into your renders for some awesome realism!

I'm so happy to have you joining me on this adventure here on Patreon and can't wait to keep bringing you awesome resources and tutorials this year! Sooooo much in store :)

Cheers,

James
