Since you said that you liked James Stewart’s acting in this might check him out in: The Glenn Miller Story, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Harvey, The Philadelphia Story, Anatomy of a Murder, The Spirit of Saint Louis, No Highway in the Sky, Rear Window, The Man who Shot Liberty Valance, Shenandoah, Carbine Williams, Made for Each Other etc. Basically anything he is in he’s amazing. He’s mine favorite actor of all-time.

By the way, I completely agree with you on the old films not feeling like a movie, blurring the line between life and film. I think what causes that is the black and white filming. It’s an art to film in black and white because when done correctly you can make the film more emotional due to lighting. Lighting might be even more important black and white than color because of the shadows it looks can create. That’s part of the magical feeling you lose with the colorized version.
