Such a great movie. James needs to see more Robert Redford films on the channel

Hunt for Red October is extremely underrated. Doubt it will win a poll since it’s pretty unknown though

Evan T. Smith

Went on a cosmic horror binge earlier in the pandemic and discovered some excellent weird sci-fi/horror flicks. I'll recommend Primer (scientifically grounded time-travel mind-f*ck) and Banshee Chapter (feels like Lovecraft as related by Hunter S. Thomson). Neither are particularly well known but both made an impression.

Two films: SLING BLADE (1996) Written and directed by Billy Bob Thornton who also stars in an unforgettable role. OPEN RANGE (2003) Directed by Kevin Costner, who also stars next to Robert Duvall. Good, underrated western.

2001: A Space Oddysey

Cody Price

The Towering Inferno (1974) Best Disaster film ever made stars Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Faye Dunaway, Fred Astaire, William Holden, Robert Vaughan, Robert Wagner, Richard Chamberlain to just name a few. Also, the Cinematography in this is an absolute masterpiece, and it is one of the few disaster films that have been nominated for Best Picture. Highly recommend The Magnificent Seven (1960). I think you would love this film. It is a western, but it is adapted from the Samurai masterpiece, The Seven Samurai. I thought that would interest you in this adaptation. Great cast as well. Stars Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Eli Wallach, Robert Vaughan, Brad Dexter, and Horst Buchholz. Also, has one of the best film scores of all-time.

Two movies from the same year: Sorcerer (1977) and House (1977). Sorcerer is one of the best, most tense, adventure movies ever made. House is a Japanese cult fantasy-horror, it's not really "scary", but really unique and inventive, a lot to talk about filmmaking-wise.

Brett Coster

Sunrise: A song of two humans (1927) by F W Murnau, a great movie at the end of the silent era that has very few title cards. It should show how to tell a story visually. Any other F W Murnau films would be great, too. Stalker (1979) Andrei Tarkovsky's best movie, but any of his others would also be great.

The Thin Red Line (1998) by Terrence Malick, one of the most influential American filmmakers still working that you haven't yet reacted to.

Brazil Tampopo Both are brilliant comedies from 1985. Brazil is by Terry Gilliam and is dark/dystopian and extremely creative in story, world and visuals. Tampopo is the best musing on food in a movie I know of but also an upbeat comedy. I do hope you will bring back Delicatessen though, also a very creative, dystopian comedy.
