Well folks hopefully this is the time we get to see James react to RAN. I’m not keeping my hopes up after watching Tarkovsky and now Kurosawa lose every poll. Edit: oh my lord it’s in second place. Guys keep it up!

Please Consider the Movie KIDS for your next poll

Hey james I wanna send you something but not quite sure how you'd like to go about that, I left my email in your last post too but if you wanna reach out with Instructions I would love to get this your way

Road to Perdition is amazing. Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Daniel Craig and Jude Law. One of Sam Mendes’ first few movies as well

Bd Blake

Putting all my bets on RAN. After last week's close finish, I'm not taking any chances.

Guess we'll see James react to the famous fish, looking forward to it! Now if only Ran made it to second place...

Ken

Yeah, I usually spread the love. This week, just Ran.

Matthew Richson

I thought you already watched Jaws? Guess I’m thinking of someone else…

Adaptation is so good! It's probably better if you read the Susan Orleans book first, though. She later talked about how weird it was to be portrayed in such a crazy movie.

Steve W

Robert Shaw delivers one of the all-time greatest monologues on film in "Jaws". I waited 41 years for someone to make a movie about the story he tells, and what I got was Nic Cage in the supremely disappointing "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage". Grrrr... 🤦🏼‍♂️

I haven't seen RAN but its getting my vote solely because it keeps getting so close and its fans are very vocal. May have to check it out 😄

Brett Coster

My votes this week: 1. Ran 2. Ran (if I could vote twice, that is) 3. Ran (see above...)

Brittyn Lindsey

Yes, I think he’d really love it. I never read the book, I don’t think it’s a requirement as long as you understand the basic premise of it being about a man struggling to adapt the book into a movie. Not a straight adaptation.

kimsmk

Ran and Riot in Cell Block 99 especially.

Marvelous Dolcy

Yes Ran second place!!!!! Finally

Next canvasing for votes Adaption

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

James, please just watch Ran ( or any Kurosawa film). His cinematography is amazing. He accidentally created the spaghetti western when Sergio Leone ripped off one of his movies to make a Fist Full of Dollars (lost in court and had to pay Toho Studios). Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas put a lot of time and money into fundraising so that Kurosawa could get two big budget (for Japan) period pieces and two smaller films made from the early eighties to the early nineties. That is how much he meant to them. They funded four movies for him.

Jansson

Kurosawa completely changed cinema and everything you said in your post is worded perfectly. I just love how Kurosawa and Tarkovsky were friends and how they bonded over each others films.

Matthew Richson

The movie that changed the Hollywood landscape and an epic film that I hear nothing but praise for. What’s not to love for these winners?
