In January I made a piece called "missing you" to help process the overwhelming emotion of Mochi's passing.  I didn't expect to be making a "sequel" to that piece within the same year but life is like that sometimes it seems.  This year has been brutal.  I included the piece that I drew for Mochi in this post to look at as well.

Unlike Mochi, Ukii did not love being held but she would enjoy pets on her terms, so in this piece she is cozily on the ground getting pets as Mochi approaches to greet her in the afterlife.

One of the many sad things about Mochi's passing was that Ukii was left behind.  She had me and my husband of course, but she was also attached to Mochi in her own way and didn't know how to get along with any other cats. She definitely had a period of obvious depression following Mochi's passing.  Now, even though I miss her so much being here physically, I hope that they are both happily at peace together.

The grief of Ukii's passing has been somewhat different, though not any less intense, then Mochi's passing.  I think that Mochi taught me how to grieve and what to expect, so the emotion that came with Ukii's passing wasn't as much of shock.  We also had a little more time to spend with Ukii and anticipate what was going to happen, and I think I started a lot of the intense grief process while she was still alive.

She was the type of being that loved to be always around and had a big presence.  Everywhere I look in my apartment, I subconsciously am still expecting to see her.  Today I've been in a bit of a daze, but I'm okay.  Thank you Ukii for all of your companionship and love.

I am so so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. We lost our 8 year old dog, Maverick, to Cancer earlier this year and then lost our 16.5 year old dog, DJ, in September. My heart and love goes out to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost many pets over the years, and it does not ever get easier. I hold on to the hope that I will be able to see them again when my own time comes to cross over.

Thank you so much Azukiel. I hope they are waiting on the otherside and we'll all be together again one day
