The once and future king. A beacon of nobility and justice. With wisdom beyond his years, he united a fractured Britain and established Camelot, a realm of peace and chivalry. 

Say hello to Arthur!

 In this portrait, I wanted him to be of similar age to the Guinevere portrait! A young adult trying to rule Camelot and bring about his ideals! I imagine Arthur, at least in his younger years, as fairly naive, idealistic, and very earnest. He isn't always completely innocent in the myths, but he generally has good intentions and tries to do the right thing. He also carries the heavy weight of ruling a kingdom, and all hopes are rested on his shoulders. I hope I was able to bring some of that across in this portrait and design of him.

Basically, I want to imagine him as an earnest little cinnamon bun that I want to protect!❤️️❤️️❤️️

ANYWAY, I hope you like him.

While working, I listened to the podcast "Allegory Story" covering Arthurian Legends. Some of what I learned blew my mind. The more you learn about Arthurian Legends, the less you feel like you know, it seems like! If you're into folklore, fairy tales, and legends, I recommend the podcast. It's pretty enjoyable!

In other news

I am in the middle of making the fantasy teeth tutorial, so that is coming soon (for real, for real!). But I couldn't stop myself from finishing this portrait of Arthur first. I'm just really hyped about these re-imaginings of Arthurian legends at the moment, and if I've learned anything about how I work, it's often best to just run with my whims if I'm feeling inspired towards something!
