Hi, somebody mentioned using PVD to deposit a thin layer of metal onto the walls of the flask, however it would be quite difficult to do for a conical flask. Could you use an ordinary (i.e. straight-walled) flask to run the reaction? I could coat such a flask very easily, using silver as the metal.

Almost forgot, I can mask off whatever sections of the flask, so if you could indicate how high you would like the coating I can assure only that area is coated.

Love the lab notes. Awesome stuff. Not being a chemist how a dumb suggestion like a pressure vessel to increase the boiling point? Not too high so as the make a borosilicate bomb but enough to get a marginal increase in the boiling point?

Since you're touching on the pyrimethamine synthesis thing again, I wonder if you could do a video on what exactly goes into a commercial pharmaceutical synthesis in terms of purification. I have never seen any kind of specifications for what purity is actually required to market something like that. Considering a lot of these synthesis routes involve compounds that may even be carcinogens, I am curious what is considered acceptable when it comes time to press it into a pill and coat it in corn starch.

1. Thank you. 2. Up vote for calling these Lab Notes. 3. Negative results are progress. You have ruled out pathways that would continue to be distracting had you not done so. 4. (therefore) I deem this an actual video. 5. Dimethyldioxane video. Yes, please! I'd happily support that.

Prep of dimethyldioxane would be welcome. Also any characterisation of it. Lab notes are good education and entertaining as well. Thanks greatly.

I realy want a vidéo where there is basic chemistry techniques like : extraction ,azeotropic distillation ans how we break an azéotrope ,how do we wach correctly our glasswear , basic chromatography , recristalisation also very important how we search a subject on the internet i remeber i watched a vidéo on drying solvents and u put a link for a journal article u must learn us how to be efficient in extracting information from the internet .excuse my english .thank very much for ur work .of course "u must is to show u importance its not an obligation ^^"

There are no experimental failures! There's only more data.

Safety protocols must be in place can u plz make a vidéo on safety précautions in général or even a serie about it cause its so important ! Thank u very much sir u are amazing .

Except lab fails when you out the wrong chemical in the breaker and make a grey foam that immediately adheres permanently to the breaker and the bottom of the fumehood. I had to pay the school for a new fumehood. All I remember is that the chemical had a 2 instead of a 3 at the end and I went to the wrong cabinet. Apparently I was not awake enough to catch that critical bit of information.
