Hi everyone!

In this second episode of the new big printer build I added the bed frame and the z axis motors and belts.

I was already worried about the rigidity of the frame and after reading all the comments I knew I had to do something about it so I added cross braces in three of the four sides (because I need to get the parts out through somewhere).

As I needed something to move the motors with, I installed the Duet3 MBHC that will control everything. I've used that board a few times before and It's incredibly solid and reliable and has a lot of I/O and configuration possibilities so here we go again.

Once you've watched the video you'll understand why I tell you that the motors are being driven at just 1.2A but the drivers can go up to 6.3A so I think we're good in that regard.

Next is the bed heating assembly.

As always happy to read your comments! Thanks!!!

Looking good. I shudder to think about how much power the bed heater is going to draw. Might double as a space heater for the workshop during the winter, haha. On top of the printer being able to serve as a lift if you need to reach anything up high and you feel like ladders are too pedestrian

Great video and I’m impressed by the design! Clearly not needed with these beefy motors but did you consider using some pulleys and a counterweight to relieve stress on the belts, brackets and motors?
