Jupiter Ascending was sci-fi, 365 Dni was horny, and this movie is both!

Chaos Walking stars, I assume much to their chagrin, Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, in an adaptation of a YA novel that only works on the page, if even. Directed by the guy who made Edge of Tomorrow (but also Jumper), this movie has been sitting on a shelf for years as far as I know and perhaps it should have stayed there. Not only is it boring, but it's also predictable because we solved the big twist ending very early on... or did we?

Alan is back for this one, because who else would I watch horny sci-fi with?

I got to see this is an empty theater and it's amazing how quickly I began to reevaluate my life choices without someone to laugh with during this movie. That void has been filled today!

Katie Holmes

i’m gonna have to wait until this isnt $20 just to rent😳

Mashdash

"Whitewater Horseback Riding" has to be THE BEST line

Emma B

I wonder how bad it was before they made them come back and do reshoots

Emma B

Also I need a trigger warning for all animals deaths in the future. Especially dogs

Emma B

I am really crying and holding my dog in bed at 2:45am over the dog😭

Emma B

They 100% had to come back after and do a bunch of reshoots, according to Wall Street Journal, “in its earliest cut, the $100 million film was deemed “unreleasable” by Lionsgate brass and pushed back for substantial reshoots. According to the paper, the first cut “turned out so poorly it was deemed unreleasable by executives who watched initial cuts last year, according to current and former employees.”

There are websites that offer that for most movies! Just found this one for Chaos Walking on Google, and it includes the animal deaths: https://commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/chaos-walking

Thank you! there’s a website called https://www.doesthedogdie.com for that covers just about any triggering thing possible. so you can look up the movie and it lists every trigger in that movie like addiction, spiders, miscarriages, even things like fat jokes. I refrain from using it sometimes bc sometimes it kinda gives things away in these thriller type movies.

prettymuchit

That’s exactly why we don’t include that kinda stuff, I think the majority of our audience would rather not be spoiled. But that website sounds perfect for this exact situation hahaha love the name of it

After watching this I had to look up the book series to see if theyre they were bad but was surprised and sad to see they are actually very highly regarded and said to be one of the best scifi fiction series in a long time. So looks like they just straight up botched it.

Also Charlie Kaufman was originally going to be one of the writers and dropped out before production started.

April Samber

Yes, I just read the description, it makes much more sense that Todd is the ONLY boy left in the man town. Why add the Nick Jonas character, what did that give us??

April Samber

I enjoyed this for an interesting concept and world-building but lots of plot holes exist, like how did the entire town keep the we-killed-the-woman a secret so well?? And these men just are fine with man town?? No one wants to leave?? They're like sure, we'll raise Tom Holland here after the mayor killed his mom, why not. And how in christ did Daisy survive the crash??? That mother fucker was plummeting to the ground and she wasn't strapped in. She didn't even have a scratch! Then there's a quick nod to like, maybe we're the foreigners here and the aliens are native to the land, but no real lesson was learned about prejudice or misunderstanding or anything. And then the nod to harmful religion but this wasn't fleshed out enough to be anything either...well, except dog murder.

Damn this movie is difficult to find in ways that may or may not be entirely legal. Might need to wait a while

kat

the best part of this track: "eric. just once I'd love it if we could watch a movie and not talk." "this is how all my relationships end."

P Cz

The abrupt change in her hair at the end is wild. Like it’s a different length, color, and bangs shape!
