With Max changing her feelings about the boys, I think it's the fact that she's a new kid. No one seems to like her but these kids, who think she's cool because she's the mythical Mad Max. So, you take what you can get. Like, how can you not like someone that actually pays attention to you? Could she have made other friends? Sure. But...those are the friends she made. You can have a change of heart. Why was that such a big deal for you?
