Yea, every One Piece fans hates that Pell lived, but I don't think that he will survive in the Live Action like Merry. Nico Robin is one of the best written character ive seen in anime, thats all I can say.

Love the early details on Oda's writing, we in the OP community like to call him a mastermind, he knows exactly what he is doing. The story he manages to attach to characters is something Hollywood could learn a lot from.. Maybe later watch his SBS where he answers fan's questions, in a far future when ur caught up, there he explains his thought process.

I kind of agree with alot of linsey's points. Robin is probably one of the characters that was projected the most in my opinion with such subtlety in a lot of her actions and the way she was presented. When I first watched/read this I felt like oda had a plan in mind for her but was intentionally using restraint as to not reveal everything where as other previous straw hats that joined, we kind of got there whole story with their dream/goal they want to achieve and that was it. Robin is an open book of mystery and intrigue. It’s the first time you really feel that her story extends deeper. So, from a writing perspective it feels a bit more multi-layered. In no point did I suspect that her wanting to join, was just oda using a quick substitute for vivi with no real goal in mind other then to make a last min change, the same way Vivi was turned into a princess.

I'm not sure how other feel about it, but I would strongly suggest checking out next episode (episode 131), it's technically a filler episode, but it's first episode of Robin as a crew member and introduction to very prominent in the future dynamic between her and one of the Straw Hats.

I think the abruptness of Robin joining is what makes it so good. It would become repetitive and predictable if every character that joined required a heap of build up. Flipping it on it's head and having Robin join instead of Vivi was just really cool

Episode 131 is one of the best filler episodes of the anime and it would be a shame to skip it. It highlights the dynamic of the two so beautiful.

This arc was my Yorknew city of One Piece. It is what changed the show from merely enjoyable to something I was deeply invested in. I've had a ton of fun re-watching and I'm looking forward to what's ahead.

131-135 are super good filler episodes, I recommend to watch them. They are as good as G-8 in my opinion

Speaking about Pell's death. I feel like this is editor's fault, and this is why death in One Piece in the begining was not often thing to happen, but that will change in the future, and major death will happen as planned. Anyway, in LA One Piece Pell will die for sure.

Out of all the fake-out deaths, this one truly burns my soul man. I love how Robin seemingly "infiltrates" the Straw Hats like she would do any other organization with how quickly she bought them out. It's gonna be interesting for sure.

Yeah... I was having so much fun, tears and then I saw Pell and it was like somebody aggressively waking me up in the middle of the night, I was disappointed as his sacrifice was very good. P.S Now you can watch new opening, as it was spoiling Nico Robin joining.

Im a little worried that they will cut some parts especially from before they reach Alabasta because there are so many different sceneries as well as stuff that requires CGI, that I cant imagine them doing it all in one season.

On Pell: It's been bandied about, whether it's true or not I dunno, that Pell was indeed supposed to kick the bucket here but the editors stayed Oda's hand because having a flying character die in a massive explosion (near a tower....in a desert setting with a lot of middle-eastern motifs) so close to 9/11 was perhaps not so advisable. The timing matches up with the chapter release at any rate.

You don't have to react to the next few fillers but I do think you might want to watch them on your own time. People always wanna rush through to the next story best but I like how in-between arcs we can have more slice of life type stories. Just good vibes.
