2023-12-22 21:31:16 As much as we all love to praise Oda as the God of Foreshadowing lmao I definitely agree. A lot of it probably boils down to him introducing or showing some bits without committing to them that, in the moment, the reader doesn't see any meaning (or any more meaning than already shown) behind it and sometimes Oda prolly neither as well, just for him to retroactively add meaningful context to some of such past story elements in a way that is still cohesive with everything that played out before, while still subverting some preconceived notions and adding a new perspective to the same story. And that is certainly a great skill to have as an author, but it is not like he has everything laid out from the start, although some may like that idea lol. I think that will also get more apparent once you get into the Math Piece side of things, where I'm sure Oda doesn't think "oh I'm gonna have this character have a moment in exactly 100chs again", but rather him going through his old stuff to see what of it he can include in this week's chapter. In regards to Arlong Park & the slavery of fishmen, I think there is instances and especially one particularly, where people might say it foreshadowed that later storyline though, which makes me think he at least had a vague idea and maybe did not wanna introduce it so early on into a kid's manga that is supposed to be fun and alladat. TLDR; Oda is a master at redefining his narrative & enriching the story by adding new layer of meaning to past events, though most of this is very likely not planned ahead (except maybe some vague ideas), but rather recontextualized much later down the line, while still not making it feel like a retcon (it essentially is one, but I mean what most people associate with that word)

Sascha

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but in terms of Zoro fighting in the live action teeth are not supposed to take horizontal force and it is in fact incredibly dangerous to the point where if you hit anything with a sword in your mouth it could easily break your teeth
