There is a saying 1 big youtuber calls One Piece a goofy pirate adventure. It got him some flack, but yes One Piece uses absurd humour and then does a 180 to hit you with a powerful story like in the Live Action. Enjoy the ride

I can’t believe the slander against the legendary Pearl he’s invincible! There’s a saying in one piece “If it’s one-on-one, Pearl will win.”

EOussama

I think the saying went "If it's pearl-on-pearl, Pearl will win".

I absolutely adore the way Oda weaves the tapestry of the One Piece world with its eclectic cast of characters, ranging from the comical Nyan Ntay brothers to the enigmatic Mihawk. It's a rollercoaster ride of both lighthearted and intense episodes. Even the seemingly invincible Pearl was unceremoniously defeated by Mihawk in the live-action adaptation when facing Don Krieg. The comparison between Sanji and Zeff to Simba and Mufasa, as made by Carson, is intriguing. Oda often enjoys subverting clichés and presenting characters in a unique light. Carson's description of Luffy as a "Loony Toons, rubber hose" character is spot on and sets him apart as a quintessential Shounen main character. And let's not forget the humor in One Piece – it's a testament to Oda's talent that he crafted a world where absurdity and silliness are embraced. The fans, including myself, appreciate the honesty in the storytelling, and making light of the show only enhances the overall enjoyment. The jokes sprinkled throughout the episodes contribute significantly to the fun and light-hearted atmosphere of the series.

Of course, feel free to react to it however you like. Personally, the point is for you to also have the best time possible watching a series we also love. People always love different things in a series AND in different ways so please try not to feel too bad about it and remember there are many other viewers who feel the same as what I said above. I actually never thought about the reverse Mufasa/Simba relationship! Good point!

Ty

we need an invincible title card gag somewhere in here

I know you guys are planning at some point to skip openings and recap but will you at least react to each new opening/ending of the show as they come out because we still want to see these and one piece has some of the best openings/endings.

Ben

also they gotta be careful not to miss new content when trying to skip recap

One thing to note is that, although Oda does have great plotlines and very intentional writing, oftentimes he's just having fun with a silly sidecharacter or a nonconsequential gag, and i'm sure he just want the readers to enjoy the nonsensical world and characters he built. Not everything has to be dead serious, and most of the OP fandom knows that, so there's no need to worry too much, you guys should enjoy the ride your way.Besides, even a deep and tragic character like The Invincible Pearl, who'se purpose is obviously to increase the stakes and drama of the arc, cannot be everyone's favorite.

One piece is supposed to be silly!!!! Some people dont like the recent fight scenes bcs “it’s too silly” but it’s literally the charm of one piece. Like people debate how they don’t like the arcs it’s too silly for them, like skypiea or punk hazard.

The forshadowing this far back?? holy hell i didn't even realize this. Ive watched this series so many times and im still picking up on new things that were hinted by oda so early. well if you know you know. Oda's amazing.

Nah, nobody wants you to take One Piece too seriously, we all know you WILL break down when it's time to break down because it's just inevitable, aside from these moments, it's just buckets of fun and laughters!

2023-11-02 23:40:12 Yeah, the scenerio with the pearl guy I think was mainly set up to be more of a gag character and I think that was kind of oda's intension here. Its kind of apparent by how luffy reacted to the whole situation. Its not meant to be taken to serously and if people actually genually think you have to be looking at it trying to anaylize it and find some sort of perfections and coolness factor out that scene, then i don't know what to say. Obvously things like this could just do without in the live action because it doesn't really add any value to the live action series but for anime it works to provide some levity so the kids watching can poke fun at some of the absurd moments. Especially if oda is protraying a villian in that way, its hilarous. 34:20 and what linsey says here is spot on!!

I.... Am very cautious about this proposal, because One Piece openings have the biggest spoilers sometimes.

klairvoyance

I think all the opening up to Jaya are pretty safe but I'm pretty sure enough people will warn them once they get to one of the OPs that have spoilers

Artimes

uhhh no... something that they could no way percieve at this early point but its there and oda is hinting about it already. "H..ki" (fill in the blank.)

Artimes

I mean they really don't people blow this way out of proportion sometimes. Just because you see a character not shown in the story yet doesn't mean it’s a spoiler. The only one I would say has very deep spoilers is some of the late openings specifically when it’s pretty apparent that the story is going through a major drama shift due to "reasons". I mean people were stating to skip the most recent ending because it shown momo's backside as an adult for like 2 seconds? like come on. Most of the openings just kind of give you a glimpse of things to come honestly. Without context or what is going on in the story or what these characters are doing, it’s very subtle spoiling, if that, as long you don't analyze it deeply.

ChocoBoshi

I don't think you guys are making fun of One Piece at all, you're having fun with it, as is intended. Its a fun show and it doesn't always take itself too seriously. It has a lot to offer in terms of goofy stuff like we saw in this episode as well as more serious topics/themes that we've seen like in Zoro/Sanji's backstories which make it enjoyable for multiple reasons.

klairvoyance

Oh yeah that's what I was trying to get at but I think we have said enough lmao
