Erraunt yit Fovard - The Arborist, Pencils (Patreon)

This was the first thing I drew in 2024! My plan has so far been to do a few Wilfrith drawings to build excitement for his stories and interest in the character.

I told myself I was going to stop at “less finished” lines for this thing so I could print it and lightbox traditional ink lines on some nice bristol. But here we are. Once I started chasing forms and shapes I liked, I got stuck in the finished detail rabbit hole. That said, I did leave myself enough room to add some detail later with the hair and textures.

I plan on coloring this with some minimal colors to match the aesthetic of Wilfrith and Grwn, but I haven’t yet decided on what I’m going to do there, and probably won’t for a while since I’m drawing the whole story in roughs first. Very much to be determined, but once that happens, I’ll ink and finish this drawing.

As far as the narrative of the image goes, beyond calling his partner the Arborist when I refer to the drawing, I wanted to leave the adventure up to the reader's imagination.
