Hola Comrades.

Greetings from Denver, Colorado.

What’s with the dismal effin weather, Denver? Don’t worry. The Dresden Dolls are officially in town and we are gonna fix everything. Your hearts will be aflame and your souls smelted like iron in a vat of punk cabaret by the end of the night.

I arrived here last night after my plane was diverted to goddamn Colorado Springs due to storms and I’m tired and slightly grumpy but mostly excited as FUCK to play with my band tonight - really kn tour - for the first time in YEARS. I am punchdrunk on the music in my head. Brian and I are ready to Sleigh.

In hopeful news: we MAY be able to thing/stream one of the New Orleans shows. We are researching a livestream team, hold the phone.

….

This is mostly a housekeeping post for the people coming to Denver - and Santa Fe (and Orlando and NoLa, read along)…so if you’re not coming, spare yourself the pain and skim or skip.

First of all: IF YOU ARE A PATRON AND COMING TO ANY of the DOLLS SHOWS, how will you identify each other, hmm?

Back in the old days of 2019 I came up with a clever little patron-identifying tactic: playing cards. Everyone has one or can find one. Pin one to your bag or garment, or get creative, or even just take a pen/eyeliner and stick a heart or club or slade or diamond on your cheek.

Cheap and accessible!!! If any patrons wanna make my day, bring an extra set of cards and safety pins and share. LOVING YOU.

if you see a another patron, you have my express permission to be a dork and start talking to them. It’s a magic wand. You have something in common. Chat! Go. Okay. Friends.

…….

NEXT UP:

PATRON MEET-UPS in DENVER / SANTA FE!

We are talking to Meow Wolf about the potential of using their space for a patron meet-up, but it’s not guaranteed. If you locals know a great central gathering space, I would love you to self-organize and I may be able to swing by, esp if it’s Saturday or Sunday late morning. I’m committed to family time those days but it may just work out magically.

DENVER! The magic happened and organizing was organized and I just got a text from Dahlia that the shadowbox went into action and picked an time and place. I can 90% be there tomorrow, Sunday less likely but who knows? - forgive my waning and waxing energy levels - and here’s the info:

DENVER MEET UPS FOR PATRONS

TOMORROW/SATURDAY MAY 19:

12:30pm

17th & California St

then also

SUNDAY, MAY 20

12:30pm

it’s open to the public on non-show days.

meet at the Trading Post….

AND SEND ME PICTURES. (tagging me on IG or sending me a FB link in comments here is probably easiest).

THATS THA PLAN

Find each other - and use the shadowbox link to iron out details.

I’m disappearing into show mode - see many of you soon.

I likely won’t be signing/coming out after the show tonight, but may tomorrow or Sunday if I have the energy. Stay tuned. Mama is still recovering from Covid, 2020-2023, divorce, trauma and all that. Mama is tired and is gonna leave it all on stage tonight.

Hello I indulged some crying fans in your presence and in the process didn’t get my moment. Your music has been important to me for over a decade and has shaped my artistry in the process. I stopped participating in the standup community because it was too gross and capitalism-y. I am the worst at meetups. Too nervous to say what I had to get off my chest. Jesus. I’m not a stalker or crazy, just a fan from OG troubled teenage years and erratic and bad at the meetups. I don’t need anything from you guys. I just want to be seen. Genuinely you have influenced my whole life and I am not trying to be weird about it but it means something to me and I don’t want to live in a world where my favorite musician thinks I’m an annoying piece of shit. I just find similarities and want to make connections.

Attending the show Sunday evening (HELL YEAH!!!)- anyone have suggestions on how early to arrive for front row?? Fully ready to spend the day at Ophelia’s if needed lol.

Tree_rex

I have seats, but I'm also wondering what time to show up this evening. It'll be my first time at Ophelia's so I don't really know what to expect. I definitely want to get there early enough to see some of the before show shenanigans since I won't be able to get to the meetup in time.

Hey! Last night, we showed up around 7 for 9 pm show time. It worked great because doors opened at 8, and Ophelia’s has a restaurant/bar upstairs that we were able to wait in. We ended up right up front by going downstairs around 7:30ish

My wife had a migraine crafted from the makings of Lucifer himself yesterday, otherwise we would have been there last night. She’s made a full recovery, thankfully, so we’re beyond stoked to be there tonight! If the mood strikes you, we’d love to hear Sing. It’s a song that has helped us so much to deal with the heaviness of the naked and ugly truths the world has spit up these last few years, and we’d love an opportunity to get lost in it live. Anyway, play whatever is on your heart tonight. We just love you. So. Fucking. Much.

You might need to bump everything up an hour since tonight's show is at 8:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM.

Oh for sure! We are arriving at 6 if not slightly sooner.. just to be safe haha. Thank you friend!

I feel a combination of sorrow that I'm so late to the AFP party, and joy that I finally made it! This was my first Dolls show, and Tacoma was my first time seeing you solo (thank you for signing my shirt!!). 30-year-old me would have loved to be part of your tribe! I know you were kidding about bringing a bagpiper on tour, but if you ever decide you want one to join you on stage in the Denver area, I can introduce you!
