Hallo loves

Ok Ok

I know it’s a random combo, and know I need to make a follow up post about the pop-up. Just two quick things.

First;

Sorry for the confusion about THE AFTERLIFE earlier: In his box/psychic avatar aka “The Worlds Most Powerful Computer” (though I daresay, it’s processing speed needs some examination), Ash has come up with a definitive answer regarding where we go when we die.

Second, my inner 15 year old is finally getting her dream to open up for The Cure, perhaps my favorite band of all time (it’s really a toss up betwern them and the Legendary Pink Dots).

Sunday, Sept 17, my beloved band The Dresden Dolls has close to top billing at Riotfest in Chicago. Brian and I have been trying to get to this festival for years (we were slated to play in 2020, but….covid).

This is our only festival this year. None other.

I hope many of you can make it.

The line-up is amazing. Death cab, Ani, The Breeders, Tegan and Sara…I die.

tickets at riotfest.org.

I love you all and want to remind you once again to get on the Dolls mailing list if you’re not. Any headlining shows we do are going to be announced and sold via email list first and most things will sell out very fast.

Join.

More tomorrow.

One of the worst nights of my life. Besides being in the same room with some cool Woodstock talent

Oops. This was supposed to be in reply to AFP… I am losing at Patreon. But hey, it is alright :)

Because I just rocked the Sox off a really small venue in Watervliet, NY and the elder musicians invited me back. So tonight is still a WIN!

Amanda, your son is brilliant! It's only the second time you've let us Patrons hear him talk, I believe. It was worth the wait. P.S. "Everybody says" Pittsburgh is much improved these days! Those Three Rivers and all. So the Afterlife ain't so bad. Thank you, Ash.

So pumped for Riot Fest! Elated that you will be there!

The family was really hoping to see you this year. But even with the early bird prices, it'd be almost $1200 to bring the whole family. A truly amazing lineup. But that's just more dollars than we even have in the bank. Thankfully I'm taking my 15 year old daughter to see the Cure in June for her first Cure show. That'll be a great experience. We're on the mailing list, so if you end up doing a pop up show while in town, hopefully we can get tickets to that. We'd really love to see you. Just don't have the money for the fest. Have a great time while you're here. ❤

Oh & … “What happens when you Graduate Death?” Ash asks with inquisitive innocence. “Turns out, Life.”, She replies. “Rebirth.” …. “Bat Medicine Son … hear me out …” (Call IT what you will (choose) - Life, Death, Rejuvenation, regeneration, revitalization, re-branding, commitment, love Or as some prefer to refer … Rebirth. ) . . . The Plant, Fungi, and Super Majority of the Animal Kingdoms agree … . . . On Rebirth … “Bats hear shape” “Bats pass down their dialects to their offspring’” . . . “Sacred Bat … flew to me, From the darkness of the cave. Womb like reflections, Answers it gave. Birth, death, rebirth, Cycles of the whole … Never-ending, just eclipsed. The journey of the Soul.” ~ Jamie Sams (and Manny Berries 🌈) [A weird aside: I thought to my Self today, “what does purple taste like?” And lo-and-behold, a five-year-old both asked + answered in the (Jeopardy form of a question style question) . . . “You know what my favorite drink is?” She genuinely and innocently asks. . . . “No. What it is?” I reply. . . .

Beyond adorable. I hate to disagree with the world fastest computer but i was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I don’t think that’s it. 😆

5 billions or so years from now, our atoms will again become star stuff ... Creative Child! Love, Len

Douglas Adam's computer that gave the answer "42" took months to get there. So I don't have a problem with “The Worlds Most Powerful Computer” processing speed.

My partner and I were checking out the lineup shortly after it dropped and I literally shrieked when I saw you on there. Tickets were purchased at light speed! See you there. ❤️

WHY OH WHY DOES RIOTFEST HAVE TO BE OVER ROSH HASHANAH WEEKEND?!?! Whhhyhyhhhhyyyyy?!😭 it’s like every band I would want to see.

There are some very random acts in there you get to share the stage with: Corey Feldman... ICP!? Plus some extremely big names: Kim Gordon, Ani, Parliament Funkadelic!! ...and maybe the most un-festival act ever: Godspeed You Black Emporor

Janet in Georgia

I’d love to see Mr Bungle again 🤣 too bad I don’t live in the Chicago area anymore!! I would SO be there. The cure is one of my top 5 fav bands of all time as well. Very excited to FINALLY take my 24 year old daughter this June to see them, she’s never seen them live before. It will be an epic evening. Ash is an amazing child. Love to you ❤️

From Sullivans’s Travels:LeBrand : It died in Pittsburgh. Hadrian : Like a dog! John L. Sullivan : Aw, what do they know in Pittsburgh... Hadrian : They know what they like. John L. Sullivan : If they knew what they liked, they wouldn't live in Pittsburgh!

Congratulations on fulfilling your 15 year old dream. Honestly, how many of your teenage dreams have you managed to succeed at?

My best friend passed when her son was 6... He told us that she became stardust, and it was ok, because one day he would become an astronaut and go visit his mom.... Talk about profound and the way to bring every adult in earshot to tears. I think about that a lot, stardust seems like the right kind of answer. Love

Hi mama. Were you ever to make a lyric shirt for that charity? Love you. Screamed wild with you tonight. I wonder what you'll think of me in NOLA. I'll have to find a happy medium of screaming and shutting the fuck up

Being here in Australia, I definitely can't make it. But - you'll be opening for The Cure on my birthday. That is an odd kind of awesome anyway knowing that that is happening even if I can't be there to see it... 😁
