One of the most magical live events I've ever attended. So much I want to thank you for, but have to ask.... There was one thing that really threw my wife and I. When you turned on the house lights and asked how many of us knew someone who had been shot... We were horrified by how many hands went up. But you seemed shocked by how few? Afraid to ask but um what is typical when you ask this?

I can tell you that when she asked at the Tacoma Patreon meet up, the vast majority of people raised their hands (myself included). The U.S. has a problem.

Thanks and wow. I'm kind of having trouble wrapping my head around that. There are American cities that I know or assume are dangerous - but Tacoma and Seattle... they are so not on that list for me.

I don’t mean to bury you in stats, and I would be very willing to send a couple of key links with data (so you could read in your own timing). The latest polling finds a majority of US adults have either personally or had a family member who has been impacted by a gun-related incident, such as witnessing a shooting, being threatened by gun, or being injured or killed by a gun. The majority of those murdered with guns knew their killer. For women the figure is over 90%. (The US has a particularly lethal intimate partner violence problem.)
