hallo loves

very quick late one from over here in the waning days of this new zealand trip.

watch / listen - it’s 7 minutes of pure joy.

sometimes magic strikes. i was walking across queenstown and there he was again, this magical piano busker, like gajdus, who i did a little stream with about a year ago.

i was filming him just for kicks, on facebook, and he spotted me and asked me to join him on the piano, so i handed my iphone to a stranger because…well, i still trust everybody and love asking. asking is where the magic lives and breathes. asking and knowing when and how to ask is healing the arrows in my heart lately.

this moment took a couple arrows out.

everything from the water and the people with no shoes and the sun and the seagulls and the noise from the shops …. and the massive resonant board of luke’s piano soaring through the square, i could have played forever. but i had to go and my phone was running out of battery. i posted another little clip just of luke playing into the sun on instagram.

my favorite thing is all the comments from people in the winter (from the UK) who felt the warmth from the clip, the sun, the music, the smiles on me and luke’s faces. we gave each other joy. we gave strangers joy. right there on the street but across the little particle waves around the globe.

someday

i promise you

i will return to this town and go with luke to the top of some massive cliff somewhere on te waipounamu and play for hours and hours til the sun sets and there’s no light left to play by…

and i will thing that thing on patreon and release it as a recording.

oh fuck

i guess that means i have to come back to new zealand

pity

So beautiful! The scene, the music, everything. Made me cry too.

This reminded me of Hobart Tas. Where just around the corner from the theatre where you did "No intermission" there is a very small park that has a "public piano" that appears (weather permitting) and people (and students from TasCon next door) just sit and play Fuck I miss Tassie

I love you and Luke playing together so much!! When do you depart? I just landed yesterday after 3 months visiting family in England x

PS I still listen regularly to the live improv busking duet... and to Luke's album

You and Luke playing piano together is still one of my favourite things you've done in the last years. ❤️❤️❤️

That's rad! Thanks for posting it here! The birds piping in make it extra special.

I've been on here a bit but wanted to say welcome folks! And hi to all the others. I actually joined after reading a poem that moved me to my bones. I did not know you were a musician or any of the rest of your glorious talent and complexity. I just really love the way you use words. I live in New Hampshire, USA, amongst the trees. . Pleased to meet you all.
