heading offline for a birthday (Patreon)

hello my loves 

I'm heading offline for about 5-6 days. tomorrow is ash's first birthday and I'm taking him back to the place he was born (in the hinterlands of Tennessee). a year ago this moment I was in the 8th hour of a 24 hour labor. 

this is a picture I just took of him, with Justine, the other newest member of our family who I found magically at imogen heap's house this spring - she was a friend of Imogen's assistant and ready for adventure...many of you will meet her on the road) on the plane to Atlanta. 

he's reading a book by his dad. (the perennial classic "chu's day at the beach"). 

it's a wonderful life, my friends. yet let me remind you that this photograph and this post don't relay to you any of the pain /confusion/hardship/exhaustion that's happening (and is always happening, isn't it?, with all of us) behind the scenes. 

believe me, it's there. I'm living it. 

and it's still a wonderful life. 

we're all here.
