{official thing}

hallo loves.

sorry for the double post today, but it's....podcast time.

i just read all of your comments from this morning's post, and i just got off a team call; the team is back in action after a well-deserved month off.

we were chatting about whether to "thing" this podcast now or wait until after the inauguration, and we landed on a decision to just put it the fuck out, because who knows what'll happen in the next few days. and also, everybody needs a Wayne Sigh. what is a Wayne Sigh? you'll have to listen to learn.

as i say in the intro...i was a little nervous about blending/merging my life like this.

i am no longer nervous.

i fucking love therapy.

there. i said it.

i also decided to do something different with this podcast-thinging, and tell me if you think it works....i am posting the intro as the feature of the post, instead of a photo, so you can listen to what the episode/guest/moment is about. thought it might be a fun way to release these, whet your appetite, and even for those of you who don't go to listen to the rest of the episode it's a little bit like a voice ramble :)

anyway....the intro tells you everything you need to know about the content of the episode without giving it away, but yes:

it's a conversation with my therapist, wayne muller.

when i'm telling people about wayne, i often tell the story about how he was working in san francisco in the 1980s at the height of the AIDS epidemic, sitting and ministering at the bedsides of the dying. wayne has seen a lot. wayne knows a lot. wayne feels a lot. i love wayne a lot.

this is wayne.

wayne lives in new mexico and he's been my therapist for about five years. he's also my friend. as i wrote on the website....wayne writes about the upsides of making it through trauma, the tricks our minds play, and the power of slowing down. he’s also hilarious. and a minister, and a photographer...and a pretty good guitar player.

the photo in the audio clip is of us in new mexico "backstage" (i.e. outside at a picnic table) rehearsing for a bernie sanders benefit...here's another one.

i can't even remember what song we were playing. some of you may have even been there.....anyone here remember? it was something....appropriate to a bernie sanders benefit :)

 here we are, doing it:

:)

so, anyway, after leading that week-long retreat with him for my patrons, i lured him into the recording studio to talk with him for over an hour about the human condition.

cheapest hour of therapy i ever wangled.

i hope it brings you peace.

that's what we need at the moment.

........

since i stupidly forgot to take photos of our actual chat (oops)....here is me and wayne and leslie salmon jones at the omega retreat that we did with those 50 some-odd patrons.

oh my. remember those days?

huggings.

Wayne's books are all available at WayneMuller.com and in the world-world. if you want to contact him about therapy, speaking engagements, or otherwise, his contact form is on his website, and he's pretty good at getting back to people. he is also in the middle of a move right now, so give him a moment.

...double-posting is double-good... Today I needed this to unwind, a busy day spent tending to my parents and awaiting Inauguration Day here in the US. Positivity is springing forth...I see and feel it amongst my friends, and am grateful. Sending the excess out to whomever may be in need of it, as it is more than I am needing at the moment. Hugs to all. Hope springs eternal in my world tonight as I lay my head on the cool side of my pillow, and ready my achy, tired body, but full heart, to rest in anticipation of dawn tomorrow. Change is gonna come.

omg. I've had Legacy of the Heart on my bookshelf for years (probably even before I knew of you, probably before he was your therapist) and never got around to reading it. I don't even remember how/where I got it. Just one of those books you notice every once in awhile or whenever you move and think "huh, I should read this". So weird how things come together. I definitely will be opening it up now. ❤️

„i can't even remember what song we were playing. some of you may have even been there.....anyone here remember?“ You did two songs together that day: Working Class Hero & The Times They Are A-Changin

"And when we choose a home for ourselves, the world right now is a very difficult place for almost everybody. The economic pressures are statistically so jagged and heart-shredding for people, it’s not really being talked about, people have to work harder just to keep up. Finding a place of peace, a time of quiet, is almost impossible. But if there are ways, and if we have one another’s back, and if we know one another well enough, what we need really more than anything, are communities of people who know one another, love one another, have one another’s back, so that we can remind one another who we really are, how strong, how beautiful. We need to resurrect our magnificence with one another." ♥️ ♥️ ♥️

Your. Therapist. Is. Awesome. (Plus, he's got a voice that heals). And this was yet another great episode!

Great convo, but I kinda feel like Wayne’s voice is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Like he could read you his grocery list and you would come away all “Wow. I never looked at lettuce that way before.”

Loved this, there is so much wisdom in it. I listened to it twice in a row and will keep coming back to it. What a big hearted man Wayne is, how large and beautiful his soul.
