kia ora, my loves....

just a post for my kiwis, though everyone else is welcome to browse...the podcast being out feels so good. i'm so tired and so relieved to get that one out the door, and even more excited for you to listen to it.

today....? i'm trying to get a handle on WHERE my aotearoa patrons are located. please answer me as best you can. knowing how MANY of you there are in a certain area is going to help me determine some choices about travel around tour...i am really hoping to do some special patron-only shows as i tool around now that level 1 is here (YAY).

i already have my eye on a little abandoned church on a farm near a beach, and a community hall deep within an eco village on an island. we are gonna have a BLAST meeting each other in weird places in your weird country. this is my fucking specialty. you will all bring me peanut slabs. it'll be like the old days. except this time, i'll have a child with me most of the time, and i'll give him the peanut slabs.

SO TELL ME, and feel free to go off in the comments about anything you think i might want to know about you, where you are, and what's going on.

it looks like i'm gonna be here for...a while yet.

meanwhile....i was on "the project" on TV yesterday here in auckland.

i cried openly about the show in christchurch and what you mofos DID TO ME. so thanks for that. here's the segment...it's about 6 minutes long and yes i look like a mess because i AM a mess lately. a pretty okay mess, but have you read the news lately? ok:

if that doesn't work, try this private link (thanks, project people):

.................

also....since she was also on the program, i ran into one of your amazing local heroes, chlöe swarbrick....she's an MP for the greens. goddamit she's smart. i invited her to come to the auckland show and get on stage and preach some politics, hooray! maybe the drag queens from taranaki will come too. EEK.

here's me and chlöe swarbrick, photo by lucy mccrae.

as i cried inarticulately about people here in aotearoa being nice to me and she stared down the barrel of the camera and explained succinctly to the whole nation why cannabis should be legalized. she speaks in full paragraphs.

we all had a beer at this amazing stand-alone pub called galbraith's, that looks like a theater building...if i ever move to auckland, i want more beers with this person.

I live in Auckland :) Due to my weird outdoor education job with long trips away from home and a funny schedule I can't make most of the tour dates! However there's no way I'm missing out on AFP in NZ so I am very willing travel/cancel a tiny bit of work to come see you!! Currently trying to jig it so I can come to Wellington or Hawkes Bay, really really hoping tickets don't sell out before I get my schedule sorted!!!

I was living briefly outside of Napier for a while after Lockdown. Then moved back to Welly. Now, though, I'm in wonderful TAIHAPE (so, central N.I.)... Come visit...!

Kia ora Amanda, hey hi! Wrote you earlier about coming out to our island Kamau Taurua/quarantine Is. How long are you down? Want to suggest you guys stay over, because it’s beautiful. Beyond beautiful. Would need to book it soon is all, cos groups get the whole house. (It sleeps up to 28, $15pp). Anyway... that’s the simple bit of it. The hall is very cool too. The keeper is Meghan Hughes if you feel like contacting her. keeper@quarantineisland.org.nz Bye for now, Kuini

I was crying when I watched the video. Thank you for being so raw Amanda. I told you this after the Christchurch show and I will say it again: If you find yourself in Christchurch, we are more than happy to have you. We have a spare room, I have extra onesies, my partner is a great cook and I make home made ice cream. We also have hugs to spare <3

I live in Hamilton - about 90 minutes south of Auckland. We have a statue of Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and not much else, haha. If you come to town, I'd like to offer my support in any way I can (unfortunately I cannot offer accommodation) - please reach out on Twitter if you like, my username is @x_chemicalism_x. If you don't make it here, I'm looking forward to seeing you in Auckland in November 🖤💜

I jump between Palmerston North and Hokio Beach (just out of Levin). Currently living in Palmerston North, but things here are starting to get a bit unpleasant again, so I'll more than likely be heading back to the beach very soon. I'm hoping that going back home will do me good. I love almost everything about Hokio, except how lonely I end up feeling there. It's an awesome little community, and it's where I feel most comfortable, but I don't drive, and anywhere can make you feel a bit trapped if you don't have a way out. It is beautiful there though. I can see the sea from my bedroom window. I'm very lucky that my parents have never made any move towards taking over my space there, not even when I've been sure id finally moved out for good. Very, very lucky. I'm rambling, but it's doing me good, I think. I feel better than I did before I started typing, at least. Looking forward to seeing you in Hastings, my best friend and I have tickets and so excited. We saw you at the Hollywood avondale in March, and at the show in hawkes bay during art deco week a couple of years ago. It's becoming a bit of a tradition for us to get together when you're performing haha. So yeah, Palmerston North.. lol😂 🌻🧡

I'm in Wellington and sometimes at Waikawa Beach on the Horowhenua coast. I love Wellington and her melting-pot mix of cultures and ideas but her moods maker her difficult to like sometimes - especially in Spring, that's when the open beach and the quiet river that joins her are so invaluable. We love having you here in Aotearoa, Amanda. Sorry to hold you hostage but also so glad to have you safe on our beautiful islands at the bottom of the world. Very happy to accommodate you and Ash in both Welly and Waikawa xx

Hawke's Bay! I keep hoping to bump into you at a park or farmers' Market - I think our boys would get along. Really looking forward to the concert, the last one I saw you at was during art deco a few years ago 😊
