hallo loves

first of ALL....melbourne, SAVE MARCH 8th. neil and i are 99% DOING A THING.

this is a super quick-quick one. today is a full team meeting with jordan and hayley and michael at me & neil’s air bnb in melbourne ...there they are. working. looking cheerful. aren't we. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO.

and i’ve already eaten into all of our team time by adding didjeridoo to the new record.

you guys - this record sounds so very amazing.

here’s a little ten-second clip....

AND GUESS WHAT SONG I FINISHED MIXING LAST NIGHT

I WILL GIVE YOU ONE HINT

....................

okay now...ADELAIDE!!!!!

i am coming for TWO NIGHTS at bonython hall (this friday and saturday feb 14th & 15th) and BOTH SHOWS STILL HAVE TICKETS!!!! please spread the fringe word and help me sell these out!!!!

we just got a great article in the adelaide review....hopefully that'll help. it's a great read.

here's how it starts:

“The last thing I really want to do with my life right now is tour around the world telling my abortion story,” Palmer tells The Adelaide Review. “And I genuinely don’t want to. I would genuinely prefer to be discussing different things. “It’s not easy. It is constantly awkward and it feels constantly emotionally risky. But the alternative is more horrific.”

Palmer has just completed the UK stretch of her world tour supporting her latest album There Will Be No Intermission, having now performed the mammoth three-and-a-half hour production in theatres around the globe for nearly a year since the record’s release in March.

A familiar face on the Australian festival circuit for over a decade, she will return to Adelaide after a three-year absence to headline the RCC 2020 music program and take up the baton of Fringe Ambassador.

“I have a deep love for Australia and particularly Australians,”....

DARWIN!!!!

WTF?????????

what IS THIS PLACE?

i am coming to you for the FIRST TIME EVER.

the show is feb 29th at DARWIN ENTERTAINMENT CENTER. there are TONS of tickets left (as usual, at https://amandapalmer.net/shows)

i am coming to darwin because people have been asking me for years...but also because i wanna see the joint. so i'm coming a day early and staying a whole extra day after....on my own. ninja'ing will almost definitely happen.

i don't know ANYBODY. literally....not one person.

WHO IS THERE?

i've been looking at accommodations (from air bnbs to hotels to .... whatever is out there) and it all looks a little daunting.

can you talk to me?

who's there? what's the DEAL?

what neighborhood do i wanna stay in? can i swim, or is the season where i will get eaten? does anybody wanna host me? know a good staying spot?

TELL ME EVERYTHING. ABOUT. DARWIN.

i land the 28th in the morning and leave first thing on march 2nd....no ash,. just me.

is anything ON in town there??

i just want to do everything and make friends.

.....

that's it...ALBUM NEWS COMING VERY SOON.

i love you all.

I would also give a shameless plug for local theatre production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical (my sister is performing) but it’s sold out prior to opening - I’m sure with an artist’s pass they have some seats at the door. But the Fringe has literally something for everyone - that’s the beauty of it. $5 magic shows in The Garden, Japanese rope bondage (shibari), Shit-Faced Shakespeare - you name it, we have it

I saved the 8th in my calendar, can't wait to find out more!!! Enjoy your trip to Darwin, I've never been and don't know anyone there but I'm sure the community up there will make itself known! ❤️ Hugs

So by the zounds of things you will be there in the WET. I haven’t been there but I dream about it and imagine the only way is to succumb to the cumulus convection. I think it will be tropical beautiful pressurised madness and look forward to hearing about the sweaty fruity fun 🌺🥭 wear cotton and silk

I also feel the need to add that if you haven’t already visited the hills, you MUST take Ash to the giant rocking horse! It’s with a small animal farm. Literal giant rocking horse. Old school toy factory attached to it also. If you still have free time in SA, that is a MUST! And for the adults, the German towns nearby have some of the best beer you’ll find in Australia.

Take Ash to Gluttony and see Charlie Caper: Magical if you can. It's a 7.20pm show so you might squeeze it in on the 16th. It's an incredible magic show with a beautiful atmosphere and I think you'd both really enjoy it. Brass Monkeys is a fun kids circus show in the Garden. Luminarium at RCC looks like fun too. There's so much that I think you'd enjoy that isn't on until later in the season, but I'm sure you'll find more than enough to see this weekend.

There's a brilliant Canberra act going to Adelaide Fringe - Catch Jazida. Jazida is a burlesque/belly dance/performance powerhouse from Canberra, and I think you'll really enjoy it :)

Any update on March 8? Arvo or evening?

Adelaide Fringe “Shit Faced Shakespeare -Hamlet” ... they take five classically trained Shakespearean actors and get one of them classically shit faced before the show, everyone must improvise around the mistakes the intoxicated cast member makes. It’s one my daughter and I see yearly (she’s eleven and it’s generally her pick, yes a bit of swearing here and there, but this is Australia and I’m sure she’s heard me say worse)
