hallo loves

quick one...greetings from london. four days til we leave for australia and we are blazing through a to-do list and packing up our caravan.

BUT wait

i'm interviewing the stand-up artist, actor and general all-around british comedy icon SIR LENNY HENRY tomorrow afternoon for our upcoming "the art of asking everything" podcast.

i've just finished reading his new book, "who am i, again?".  i've known lenny since meeting neil, all the way back in 2009 or so...our stories are actually intertwined (neil claims that he fell in love with me on the day of lenny's 50th birthday party.....long story).

after reading the book, i'm chock full of questions....

but, as usual, if you have anything you want me to throw into the mix, i'm here and the phone lines are open. please just get me your ideas and questions by about 10 am tomorrow, london time. leave questions below in the comments. keep em short and economical.

anything goes.

this is the art of asking EVERYTHING, people.

extra points if you've actually read his new autobiography and have questions about the book itself, or the stories from the book.

EXPAND! EXPAND! EXPAND!

brains

hit me.

I grew up with Lenny on my TV, he's in my cultural DNA. In my teens saw him sing at the Robin Hood R n' B club in Dudley. Man...he sings some serious soul, among all his other talents. My question is, and it's very general, what would you prescribe for the practical healing and unity of Dudley 2019? And by extension the UK/Planet World? Big up Len and thanks Amanda, that's cool as fuck Len's in the synchromesh. Steve Fly from the Lye/Brierley hill.

On second thoughts, please ask him to drop the names of a few records and artists that impacted him and a lil' on why. You can tell I didn't read his bio, yet!

What American stand-up comedians really made a mark in the UK?

What a wonderful opportunity you have! My mum’s been a fan of Lenny’s for my whole life so I grew up watching his comedy, he represents home and happiness for me. I’m getting mum his book for Christmas, and will definitely be borrowing back to read myself when she’s done. I’ll practice the art of asking myself: any chance you could ask him to sign a copy for her while you’re there, pretty please?? 😉 I can’t think of any serious interview-y questions, but you can always ask him: Why do cats have the monopoly on flaps? (He’ll understand!) Much love 💕

Len Tower Jr.

I prefer you not ask him or any interviewee, stuff that is answered in his/their biography, OR on his/their Wikipedia article. I find it more useful & interesting to explore other aspects of a person.

Only that I cannot cpunt chocula the ways

Hey lady. I would love to hear Lenny's feelings on his early career (performing on The Black And White Minstrel Show, jesus) and dealing with the stark hatred that came with it. We love him so, and are so grateful that he's still with us.

Not all listeners to the podcast will have read his book. Me, for one. A good podcast, which I certainly trust this one will be, will entice many a listener to do so, as well as provide thoughts that go further than what is in the book.

No question, I'm just a fellow black country mon sending his love.

No questions, did not even know him until you and Neil presented his book, which I bought and look forward to read during the holidays! So I am curious what will be in the talk!

I created my first tier 1 gift. A Unique File. Not To be Shared. Only on the day of the deal.

I don't have a question, but I want to let him know that I sometimes have to restrain myself from shouting "This stuff's cold and tastes completely of strawberries!" in public places.
