(public post)

hallo everybody.

greetings from regensburg, where i lived in 1996 for five months. i tootled up here on a train to do some nostalgia-ing and wandering around and.....hopefully.....some writing tonight. i haven't had a night of to myself in....a long fucking time.

today we've also got the release of the "drowning in the sound" documentary slated for release, so watch for it.

then tomorrow, i play in offenbach.

apparently THE WEBSITE FOR THE OFFENBACH SHOW (https://www.eventim.de/artist/amanda-palmer/) at CAPITOL IS SHOWING THE SHOW AS SOLD OUT. THE SHOW IS NOT FUCKING SOLD OUT. ANYBODY WILL BE ABLE TO GET TICKETS ON THE DOOR. ahhhhh i cannot tell you how frustrating this is. wait, yes i can. it's fucking frustrating. having a show not sell out and then finding out after that fact that people couldn't get tickets and so simply walked away is about as frustrating as it gets. anyway...if you're in offenbach, please spread the word that tickets are still available. UGH. und danke.

und then WIEN....!! WIEN IS DEFINITELY SOLD OUT, HOORAY.

and dear wien....it's been a second. i seriously i CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SHOW ON SAMSTAG.

i had a fantastic show in münchen last night and the show is just getting better and deeper every night. (and i am working on my deutsch, which is of course, as usual, IM EIMER.)

anyway, YES. WIEN. it was one of the fastest-selling shows of the tour.

on the other hand, two hours south, GRAZ is the worst-selling show of the tour.

graz is only at about 36% sold, about 600 tickets in a hall that fits 1700. i found out recently how disturbingly expensive the tickets were (seventy euros? fuck me. and that's my fault. and that's the last time in history i will not insist on personally approving the ticket prices, holy FUCK). AND then i found out that there's an all-day INSANE DRINKING FESTIVAL going on that day. who in their right mind would want to spend the day drinking in graz and then sit still in a chair for three hours listening to a crazy lady making death and abortion jokes?

however, the show in vienna hs been sold out for AGES and i bet there are some people who might make the trek to graz....

so, in any event, VIENNA: bitte-please tell GRAZ friends about the show, and i'm working on trying to make some sort of discounted ticket possible to ease the pain. it's hard, the promotors are always grumpy doing that. i will keep you posted.

graz tickets (for sunday, sept 15) are HERE: https://www.oeticket.com/event/amanda-palmer-congress-graz-11640403/

......

MEANWWHILE, on the DAY OF THE SHOW IN VIENNA (this SATURDAY!!!)

i am going to do a POP-UP PIANO GIG !!!!

do not confuse this with a ninja gig. a ninja gig is not organized.

THIS SHIT IS SO ORGANIZED.

come find me @ 2PM at Karlsplatz, HERE:

PRETTY CHURCH!!!!

and

THERE IS GOING TO BE A GRAND PIANO!!!! OUTSIDE!!!!

in case of rain, show will be held at Wien Museum.

which also sounds pretty awesome, so, okay.

................

i am going to play and take donations.

now.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

because this amazing organization reached out to me, that's why.

they're called OPEN PIANO FOR REFUGEES, and all the donations go to their social music school, DoReMi.

https://openpianoforrefugees.com/doremi/

it's a weird and awesome concept. basically, they bring pianos into public spaces for people to play. with the donations that they're gathered from these pop-up gigs, they opened Vienna's first social music institute in march called DoReMi, to promote the inclusion of refugees and socially disadvantaged people.

i mean: how awesome is this??? it's like charity busking.

from their site:

"Refugees are not only students but also teachers and teach instruments such as oud, piano, guitar, jazz vocals and Arabic vocals, but also violin, saz, clarinet, choir, Orienatlische percussion and the flute. The whole thing runs on a "pay what you can" basis, so that even low-income students can take the lessons. We can already teach 160 students in the third semester. The lessons take place in pairs with a refugee / migrated person and a German-speaking person. Signing up for lessons is actually open to ALL <3

.....

so, wieners, there i will be, at 2 pm, and I HOPE YOU COME.

and if you're still up for more amanda palmer the next day, FUCKING DRIVE TO GRAZ.

ok?

OK.

x

Hi from Graz! I am not sure if the drinking festival is so much of a competition (it is very traditional), but the disturbingly expensive tickets were indeed a bummer for a lot of people ... :/ See you on Sunday.

The Capitol website doesn’t say it’s sold out? People go there, Eventim are plonkers.

I in no way expect you to follow suit, but in 2011 Henry Rollins found our that the venue for his Toronto show was charging $5 more than every other Canadian stop on that tour he added a stack of $5 bills to his rider for that stop, which he then handed out to the attendees at the start of the show. I have the ticket and the crisp $5 bill he handed me personally framed on one of my shelves to this day.

Now I'm a little bummed that I have to work on Saturday before the show, although I'll be at an interesting symposium about prehistoric women and goddesses and figurines with lectures and art presentations/performances. I feel like it's still in AFP spirit and hope you're having a great time with the open piano for refugees!

That charity busking event sounds amazeballs. Hope you'll have a great time with it!

Open Piano sounds awesome! I hope the weather is good so you can play outside.

Great idea ❤️ I think we'll make it there. We went to Konzerthaus today to make it there on time next Saturday. I'm so excited to see the show. 😊

Yay looking forward to it! Hope the weather will be nice, Karlskirche is a stunning place! Already wrote my friends in Graz that they should buy tickets for the show and spread the word...hope they will :)

If anybody is looking for a ticket for Vienna, let me know! My girlfriend can't attend, so I have one have one to sell. It's in the 6th row :) If you couldn't afford a ticket, send me a message, we'll figure something out (pay how much you can or something like that). Amanda, so wonderful that you are doing the open piano gig <3 Very excited for tomorrow!

I'm in Vienna, from Hungary. I saw Amanda live for the first time in my life at Karlsplatz on this wonderful event. I didn't dare came to her, but I longed for a hug. Maybe tonight...? Amanda if you read this, feel my love. 🥰
