My friend Caroline runs a Free Fringe event called CeilidhKids, doing fun traditional Scottish dancing for ages 3 and up. Warning: audience participation. Sunday 25th at 11.15. https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/ceilidhkids-at-the-fringe-free.

A little late to the (recommendation) party, but my absolute favourite this year was A Womb of One's Own (https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/womb-of-one-s-own), Catholic girl enjoys her sexual awakening, but gets pregnant and chooses to have an abortion. While it's legal and free, she feels quite left alone and alienated in the experience. The main character is portrayed by four fantastic actresses, representing the different parts of her.

Oh no, and then it sent when I clicked "enter". Another recommendation would be Sofie Hagen, who does fantasic stand-up comedy: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/sofie-hagen-the-bumswing. I'm struggling to describe this without taking something away from the show, but she manages to touch on some very serious subjects and then somehow still manages to return to laughter and lightness. I thought her show was very skillfully written.

Bryony Kimmings has added some extra shows on 23rd and 24th

Anonymous

I saw Bryony last night, she was incredible. But please bring someone to hug/hold hands with! My friend and I had a mix up of dates and no one was free to take her ticket last minute, so I went alone, which I have zero problem with doing, I enjoy solo activities. But all through the show I could see people around me reaching for each other's hands and moving closer together. You'll laugh, love and cry buckets.

If you can get hands on tickets then go to night walk for Edinburgh. It's part of the international festival. I loved the experience. https://www.eif.co.uk/whats-on/2019/nightwalk Also I was at Andrew's show and I fell in love. What a brave and brilliant human. Thank you for the recommendation!

Neil

Ashley storrie at the counting house was very good. Don't want to say anything about the show as I might spoil it. I'd recommend Micheal Legge too, 12:00 at the stand.

I'm blown away, highly recommended: The Fishermen https://www.edfringe.com/event/2019FISHERN_AAU

Bravery, empathy and a lot of crying. You'll like this one. Sam Haygarth: Climate Crisis https://www.edfringe.com/event/2019SAMHAYG_AEH

I'm a little late to the game because I was traveling, but I can't recommend my friend John Pendal's show "Monster" highly enough: https://gildedballoon.co.uk/programme/john-pendal-monster/ There's more information and a short clip here: http://www.johnpendal.com/monster.html

One more recommendation, because it had me crying with laughter at the same time as nodding with agreement about nearly everything she came out with (& I reckon it'll be right up your street too), "10 things I hate about taming of the shrew"
