 {patron-only post}

hallo loves.

hometown throwdown tonight. i'll see a lot of you....

greetings from the porter square bookstore, the very one where i have sat my ass so many times, the very one i was sitting in when i heard about the bombing, the very one i wrote the poem in. it seemed fitting to come back here today on my way to the show.

i put ash to bed in woodstock last night and then drove the 3 hours to my folks' house in lexington, MA, getting in around 12:30 am.

i needed to brush up on my knowledge of the recordings for the music video shoots coming up next week (i need to be able to lip-sync to both "drowning in the sound" and "look mummy, no hands", and they're both tough ones...and i finally got to settle into a nice perspective listen of the whole album for the first time, alone. what joy!

i got immediately pulled over by the woodstock police. during "the ride".

it was funny.

i woke up this morning and had a nice breakfast with my folks. i won't see them at the show tonight because the preparation makes socializing hard, and they're probably not going to stay until the end. this fucker goes til 11:30 pm and they have to get home. so we got a morning in. we talked about abortion and climate change.

it used to be so hard to tell my parents the truth. so much has changed. john took this photo of me and mom outside the house:

.....

and now i'm gonna go to yoga with my favorite teacher at down under yoga in cambridge....after wasting about 30 minutes of my life on twitter dealing with a protest outside my show tonight that isn't actually a protest.

people are weird.

I am so glad for this post because the Orpheum still has the time wrong. I would've been an hour late. 😱

See you there! 🖤⚡️

I'm so glad you're taking points from the criticism instead of just writing off everything as drama - I like the poem, but there's worthwhile stuff for us to learn about how to direct, support, and elevate the disadvantaged we are surrounded by and benefiting from. It's been very important for me to be a better person by trying to be as anti-racist as possible, but it's hard because we will always be blind to where we are missing things.

Sing Pretty. Be real. Have FUN.

Any chance I can send you $5 and get a signed copy of your poem?

Sorry to miss it but I've got to meet up with this dude Moses and cross the Red Sea. Rock that house! 😘

Missed the get together. I can't wait for the show, it's been about 10 years of listening to your music and this will be my first time seeing you. Woot!

Hey Amanda, You saw this right? <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/13/arts/the-week-in-arts-the-appointment-robert-motherwell-amanda-palmer.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/13/arts/the-week-in-arts-the-appointment-robert-motherwell-amanda-palmer.html</a> In the print version, the write-up about you appeared right next to - touching even - the write-up about the play about abortion "The Appointment". Kismet!

I’ve been watching this unfold on Twitter and it is absolutely, absurdly hilarious. I can’t tell if it’s bullshit or if it’s a legit crazy person. Feels like a desperate cry for attention.
