as promised, here is my ENTIRE schedule for austin/SXSW this coming week....INCLUDING THE LIBRARY READ-IN INFO!!!!!!

things are FUCKING nuts here and our schedule is balls to the wall. i'll be streaming a lot of stuff on instagram / twitter. follow along. meanwhile....i'm working my ass off on a speech to deliver to the music industry tomorrow at around 12:30 pm (central time), and you'll be able to watch it streaming, info below.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SXSW BADGE and you're just awesome and in AUSTIN, TX - HEADS UP: neil and i are putting together a VERY SECRET SPECIAL FREEEEEEE THING - centrally located !!!! if you can, save wednesday evening at around 5:30 pm. be prepared to, ahem, BRING A  BOOK. be prepared to READ A BOOK. that's all the hints i'm giving ya. i'll announce the actual surprise later tonight or tomorrow. just be prepared.

mr neil gaiman and i will be doing a “read-in” flash gig at austin public library, who have graciously invited us to invade their beautiful library, TOMORROW!!!

why?

because sxsw is loud and disorienting and this is the most punk rock thing i could think to contribute. 

what is a "read-in"?

i mean, it's this. i just invented it.

reading books is the new throwing a television out of a window. 

reading books is the new screaming at the sky. 

reading books will save us all. let’s read. 

note: 5:30pm entrance, and we will get started as soon as everyone is IN!! 

we will bang a little gong, read together (FOR REAL! THIS IS REAL! WE WILL REALLY READ IN SILENCE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES! REALLY! READING!!!)....after we read quietly together for about 30 minutes....the gong will ring, and we do a couple more silly things.....i'll bring a ukulele, neil will have a poem handy. 

go ahead and take photos or video of your book and reading if you wanna. use hashtag #AustinReadIn

should last til about 7 pm or so!

and obviously.....BRING A BOOK TO READ!!!! don't have one? THAT'S OK YOU'RE IN A LIBRARY! PICK ONE OUT!!!!

APL has a recycling/donation division called "Recycled Reads", which resells/repurposes donated items to keep tons of materials out of the landfill. they also host programs, mostly about sustainability. here's a link to information about Recycled Reads: http://library.austintexas.gov/recycled-reads/about

and.....feel free to swap books with strangers!!!!

**please note: this is not a book-or-album-signing, because neil and i need to scramble away to put ash to bed immediately afterwards....so even if you are tempted, please leave that stuff for other events**

parking & entrance info:

Parking at the Austin Central Library, 710 W. César Chávez Street: Please be aware that parking is limited. See here for information about parking at or near the Library. Since traffic during SXSW is heavy in downtown Austin, please use alternative modes of transportation as much as possible – bus, walk, bicycle, scooter, ride share, etc. The Central Library connects directly to both the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail and the Lance Armstrong Bikeway. There are numerous free places to park bikes surrounding the Library.  

Event Entrance: For events in the Special Event Center at the Central Library, please use the César Chávez Street entrance. Signs will help guide and inform attendees about the location of the entrance, and a line will form at the door for entry into the Event Center at 5:30 PM.
