hello dears

love from the cold bath

and oh my gads.... seismic media sea change for me, there.....yes, yes yes yes....i'm gonna talk to you more, and i think this is going to work out grandly.

here's this morning's voiceblog...i'm not gonna bother to give it to you as a wetransfer file because that seems like overkill when you can download it from soundcloud...i enabled that option:

https://soundcloud.com/amandapalmer/voiceblog-feb-10th-2019/s-tkUfC

it's about 13 minutes again.

that seems to be the length of what my brain has to say in the morning?

if you want to READ this voice ramble lovingly transcribed by alex, along with the whole archive of transcribed voice rambles, you can do so RIGHT HERE

ALSO - patreon has an embedded audio option...shall i try that? maybe for the next one, and you all can gimme feedback.

i read all of your comments and it brings me a lot of joy to think that this is going to WORK...and i also wanted to address a few things

1) i won't ever use these for CRITICAL, PRACTICAL INFORMATION. tour dates and events and merch and all that sort of info-stuff will alway be in text and obvious.

2) for those of you who were concerned about the audio-impaired...there's a lot of ways to deal with that, it seems from the comments. you can run a speech-to-text converter, like dragon, and IF YOU DO and you wanna be a hero....pop up what you got in the comments! i can even sneak back and cut and paste any transcription into the body of the post itself if it happens fast enough. crowd power.

3) as far as archiving these somewhere....i'll figure it out.

here's ash trying to get into my cold bath this morning.

real conversation, with neil in the next room

ash: "I WANT TO GO IN THE BAWTH" (said with extreme british accent)

me: "ok but it's a very cold bath" (said like a normal american)

ash: "IT IS NOT. it is a very cold BAWTH."

neil, when told this story moments later, beamed, and i threw a shoe at him

this is fun.

i love you.

the end

I can’t wait for podcasts!!! I spend an unfortunate amount of time in car or on bus commuting, yet it provides the perfect opportunity to listen to people who spark my heart. Happy to be adding your influence to the flow. I also like the voice memos, I can sit and do nothing while I listen (as I just did) or I can listen while doing things. I like options. And this cold bath thing... I’m intrigued but as I sit looking at the Seattle snow situation and covered in blankets, I’m not sure I’m ready for it ;).

cold baths are the shit, i highly recommend when you're in germany again going to the sauna, cuz if you like ice cold water, they do that. also a tip for 'on the road' an ice cold shower will also have the same affect. of course not as super nice as a bath, but it'll get your blood moving in the same way. (i, tragically, have no bathtub, cuz, europe and everything is smaller here...) enjoy the cold ;)

I am definitely interested in the cold bath thing. Ice cubes in a hotel bath is badass, like Lorraine from Atomic Blonde. ☺️

I knew an American/British couple growing up, and her husband (the Brit) declared victory the day their elder kiddo wandered into the room and said, "you need to change [baby sibling's] nappie, Dad." He never let his wife live it down.

I LOVE these voice blogs. I rarely have ten minutes to sit and read an email, but I listened to these the same way I listen to podcasts: while I’m doing necessary non-verbal stuff like driving, cooking, cleaning, etc. I LOVE this form of communication! Thank you!!! Brilliant!!!

I’m not to sure how I feel about voice blog yet BUT... I was inspired recently to take a cold ‘bath’ (it was in a tiny pool outside, there was no thermometer but I’m betting it was 40 minimum) and I agree, the experience was throughly invigorating, 10/10 would do it again.

Interested in the ice bath. Seriously trying to convince myself to try it. (Also currently catching up on voiceblargs).

I really enjoyed this one and sharing your morning rituals with you. Listening to you while I'm doing dishes, which is one of my morning habits.

I'm alone tonight with my cats, in my nest, with my laptop. I'm catching up on your voiceblogs.
