I think I'm actually gonna pull it off and finish a second video for this month. But it will be another weird one. The whole thing is a parody of a well-known After Effects tutorial series. I'll recreate a UFO video from YouTube, step-by-step, in the style of Andrew Kramer from Video Copilot, but I'll also try to have Captain D snark in there... it's walking a weird line and I just hope people will find it watchable.

In order to make it look like a continuous screen capture but still retain the ability to edit and manipulate everything on the screen, I had to figure out a way to switch between a real computer interface and fake animated compositions constantly and make it completely seamless. I'm pretty happy with the results. But it's disorienting using After Effects to animate an After Effects interface. I can't wait to be done!

Lawl, I say. Anyway, Captain Disillusion inspired me to go into VFX. The first step into that world for me was the After Effects UFO tutorial you can get on their site. After that, it was trying to replicate the Star Wars lightspeed effect. The higher ups at the record label saw what I was spending my lunch break doing, so now I get to make all the titles and logos for our music videos, and get to play around with some special effects every so often. So thank you, Captain, for starting me on a path that has at least let me put "Motion Graphics and Animation" on a business card.

Love it. I'm buried in ExtendScript tutorials right now. AE specific in-jokes are close to my heart.

pretty obvious thought but you could use print screen or freeze frames then alter them with a text overlay, pretty brute force but maybe it would help with a handful of weird bits.

"Hey What's up guys Caaaaaaaaptain Disillusion here....." Sounds like a great idea, looking forward to it!

That's awesome! Andrew Kramer's tutorials are some of my favorites.

Dude, you are such a perfectionist! And I guess that's why your videos are absolutely the best. I can't wait to see it, like always!
