Are you interested in the art of sound design and mixing? Of course not. But regardless, here's a little technical treat for all patrons - a version of the new episode with the dialogue and voiceover removed. Might be an interesting way to study the way sound effects and music are incorporated in my style of editing. If you have any questions, let me know! Just don't share the link... or use it to make any 'bad lip reading' parody videos.

How come I can't hear you talking?? Just kidding! LOL

Christopher G

Do you add add the voice track in post or record it live?

CaptainDisillusion

When I'm on screen, it's live, of course. But the narration heard over the animated explanations is recorded separately during editing.

Did you had some "comfort noise" all along ? I can hear some kinda hiss in the quiet parts.

I love the CD music each video so it's great to hear it on its own at last. I never realised you re-record the script separately; that's some impressive lipsyncing. Not as impressive as the creepily animated Mickey head though- another large job that I'd have thought you could have made easier on yourself by... well just wearing a Mickey Mouse head. But hey, what the heck do I know about how these things should be made? Besides, I think the thing I was most impressed by was the When You Wish ringtone. ;)

Audio production is my muse, and I vehemently approve this video!

CaptainDisillusion

Yes, some room tone ambience is added to make things sound better. In this case, once the hole is busted in the wall, it's a little louder and deeper as if coming from that void outside.

CaptainDisillusion

Glad you like the music! But you misunderstood slightly about the dialogue :) I don't re-record it after. It's the real thing. But I removed it for this demonstration.

Timmo Warner

I really enjoyed this! I even noticed a few things I hadn't when watching with the dialogue!

Great to see it this way and understand better the layers in creating such a polished looking video. Thanks for the great videos!
