Before watching... There was a video by the author of the original on how it was done...run simulation, see where results went, color, then re run the simulation, then motion track.

I say this with all of the love in the world, the dialogue isn't the best in this one and it sounds really hollow without background music.

But Captain! The fact that the balls fell evenly across each cell suggests he didn’t simply bake a simulation - otherwise the simulation would have resulted in a normal distribution, like a real Galton board. He’s done something else to his render to make the balls fall the way they did....

Lovely lovely lovely, I love it. What's funny my grandma said she saw this vid on facebook and when explaining to me what it was about I got that feeling of 'this is probably faked' and there ya have it, an entire cd episode about it. Good job cap.

Great debunk, but you've missed one thing. Near the end one of the green balls bounces to the right, where only red-pink ones are, and goes off the view. Then the camera pans down to where the green ball should have gone, but it's nowhere to be seen. That suggests the creator didn't recolor the balls at the and and remade the simulation, but rather setup the animation so that the balls would change their color to the right ones near the bottom. This way he could have the marbles randomly colored at the start. If he had the colors right at the start, the same coloured marbles would have to be near each other, and that would not look so stunning.

I think we've got a mix of what D said and this. There were plenty that changed color on the way down, but there were also a good amount that you can track from the top to the bottom.

Thanks! Haha, we are, and always have been, just friends. The motivation for the story was more about trying to make Holly less cartoony and one-dimensional going forward. There's only so many times we can have the sole recurring female character show up as a lovesick ditz who is there to be taught smart things by CD... Frankly, by the second time I was feeling uneasy about it. Now hopefully we've made room for more interesting possibilities in her future appearances!
