Here's this month's video! I actually almost sort of nearly came close to somewhat having fun making it. Hope you enjoy.

I'm glad you quickly recovered from breaking every bone in your body! I really like the behind the scenes stuff; when I'm proud of something I've done the thing I most want to do is show how it was done :)

Though this isn't quite as flashy as some of the videos where you tackle more popular viral phenomena, I really enjoyed the breakdown of your version of the shot. It made me appreciate all the small details that go into making a realistic looking effect under difficult constraints - in fact, I wouldn't mind if the explanation was paced a bit slower so I could digest all the cool things going on in those ~2 seconds of video as you explain them!

Awesome video, thanks!

Awesome as always Captain D

Good stuff as usual, Cap!

I really appreciate how interesting you make these even to people like me who have no knowledge of film or visual effects. Thank you! Keep doing what makes you happy!

I thought it was done exactly as you said but I had no Idea cheese pizzas were so hard to feed to cats

10 years? Bah! No way you could last in this game for 10 years!

Anonymous

Nicely done. But we all knew you were going to out-do those meymey makers. :)

The patience meter was hilarious. Made my day!

I had to pause during the Today Show clip to recompose myself because you said everything I had always thought about that clip. "Breaking every single rule of composition" indeed.

Should I be worried I never hear of these memes until you debunk them? Awesomely, i might add.

The line "in a series of shots that break every possible rule of composition" almost made me spit out my coffee. Joe Michaels (director of the Today Show) will find out why his ears are burning tomorrow, I suppose.

I thought you always had fun making these... :(

CaptainDisillusion

Sigh, I do of course, but they just never get any easier. Quick Ds are about ~10% less challenging, but still a lotta work!

CaptainDisillusion

I only hear of them because I scour the web for video topics. Otherwise, my internet awareness would be limited entirely to watching old Star Trek shows on Netflix.

CaptainDisillusion

Yay, coffee spit take :). The video is actually supposed to go live this afternoon. 'Cause I'm just that slow :(

Not only do you show how the original trick was made, you then go the extra Mythbuster's mile and do it to the extreme! Excellent and satisfying work! Thank you for these wonderful productions!

Benedict Marko

Exactly, that's what I loved the most about it - the details of how to accomplish the final shot :) It's fascinating to see how much work goes into a good special effect.

I busted up at the patience meter. Above and beyond as always dude :)

Videos like this one are the reason why I am glad to be a sponsor. You go the extra steps not just to tell but also to do and show.

My brain hurts watching that, I can only imagine yours after all that editing. Nice job Cap ;)

I just realized the end music has a "Mega Man" level feel to it (which is not a bad thing).

Ponk80

great work, and nice touch adding a tutorial, it made me become a patron, because i wanted to know more about how you do your amazing videos :)

Steve

true.. some wealthy film producer will probably "make him an offer he can't refuse" regardless, I wish him all the success that might come his way. Definitely one of the best content creators on "the tube"

Really great! What was the endscreen music (or was it an original composition)?

Anonymous

God I love these :) the VFX explanation at the end was amazing. That tracking dot removal... what a bugger! Maybe next time don't have shadows pass straight over the tracking dot area if you can help it??
