The hurricane passed, leaving manageable damage. I and every human/animal associated with me are fine. If you were in the path of the storm, hope you're okay too! Here are some aftermath highlights:

My place came through completely unscathed (the impact windows really did hold up), but the studio got... slightly flooded, not from below, but from above:

The ducts that drain the roof became clogged early on in the storm, collecting a pool of water which soon began to leak through the ceiling of the second floor all the way down to the first! Luckily, the water did not reach the actual set and all the equipment. After the hurricane, I climbed up and unclogged the drains, though the roof still needs to be properly repaired and the moisture inside removed.

But the most important issue is that both places, like much of the state still have no power. I waited to make this post-storm update hoping electricity would kick in any day, but no such luck...

Hanging out with no AC in 85-degree weather is not fun. I've been writing and prepping what I can on battery powered devices, but with the month half over, I've got to start producing a video ASAP, so I found a place with power and am relocating my editing gear there.

The current plan is: this month's episode will be one that doesn't require any filming - a second ever installment of "Mr. Flare Explains". Then in October, the exciting conclusion of VFXcool BTTF!

Thanks for sticking around and, you know, for your inexplicably, ridiculously generous support, always <3

Glad you're fine 😃

Congrats on not being murdered by storm! That would have been lame.

Way to weather the storm cap! Hopefully the moisture damage isn't too expensive

Glad you're OK, Captain D! Lesser flying space sceptics might have cancelled this month's episode altogether.

Good to hear that you and your family are alright. If you can't get anything out by the end of the month, I feel like 'we had a hurricane' is a rather reasonable excuse! Don't waste this opportunity to lay the blame of your consumed homework at the feet of Mother Nature! (if needed ;) )

So happy you're safe! And, more importantly, all your video equipment is safe! 😜 Stay cool and hydrated. And I think the next VFXcool after BTTF should be a Twister/The Day After Tomorrow double-feature!

I'm so glad to hear that the damage is minimal, and that you and your family are all okay! But YEESH, having no A/C in the hot, humid aftermath of the storm is awful, not to mention no cooking or phone charging! I've been in that boat a few times before. Miraculously, my place is one of the 43% of buildings with power in Tampa. I really hope the recovery is quick and painless, and none of your fancy gear has water damage! And of course, stay safe (still)!

Good to see you made it through somewhat intact, and with limited property damage. It will still be one heck of a clean-up job, but you'll get through it. We fans will remain patient, given what you've just been through. The more important thing is that you and your family are safe!

Glad you and yours are okay.

Glad you and your loved ones came out on top. TBH the fact you're coming out with a video at all this month under the circumstances is above and beyond. I salute you good sir!

Glad you are all OK. Great to see the "show must go on" attitude, but really, we understand. I'm sure Mr Flare will be his usual self. Cheers.

Yikes! Sucks to be a tree in Florida right now. Very happy to hear that you are mightier than a tree. The mailbox has some sort of cellophane-bondage-kink-thing going on there. Hey, no judgement, mailbox. You do you. As for putting out a video this month.. how about something that takes even less fresh footage: Logo; Cap'n D sitting in the corner smiling (Old footage?); "Greetings Childr---"; Suddenly a CG hurricane whips through the shot leaving nothing but a plot of wet dirt and a nasty looking grey sky; Over the roar of the wind you can just make out Cap'n's voice yelling "Fuuuuuuuu..." as it grows more distant; Cut to "technical difficulties" card with cheery music. Fin. Seriously though, glad you're storm proof.

Good to hear you & yours are OK. Stay safe!

Good to see you and yours came through it safely! No rush on the video - do what you can when you reasonably can!

Glad everybody is OK. I'm sure you're aware but watch out for the possibility of black mold growing in the walls. Take care and don't feel too much pressure about the video. Until your post about Irma, since you are a fancy (sweat) pants FX/writing/directing/usw. genius, I assumed you lived in LA.

Glad you're safe! You should take your time with your next video - I don't think anyone expects you to do anything under these circumstances!

Stay safe and cool, bud.

It took a meteorological cataclysm to bring back Mr Flare?

Rich Auntie Skeleton

Captain, it's all hurricanes and alligators down there, please be careful!
