...and here is a video showing the tulle elements cloth simulation. I refined the top portion of these later by hand, using the paint deformation/relax tool.

I'm not that sure that doing a hdt setup for this one would be easy. You'd have to do 10 times of minimum 3 bones per each side to keep the "leaves" separate That means 30 bones per side. Still even a simple 3 bone rig is beyond my reach :/ but maybe I'll dig into that this year with some very simple rigs. I don't say that the standard skeleton rig will be easy here, but if you'd like to do it with a hdt setup you'd have to do all the "leaves" or create a simpler rig and negotiate the weights between the leaves as well ;)
