Hey there Bourbons and Habsburgs :)

Time for some info on the Elizabeth Tudor Gown progress :)

I couldn't decide how to model the sleeve covers for two weeks now. It's because they have these white undersleves fragments poking through. It's always a dilemma if you want to add a detail and you don't want the model to be too complex.

First I wanted to model just the general shape of the sleeves and the covers just as if they were one element and add all the details using normal map. But I was afraid to loose too much of this nice 3d quality.

Then I thought the other way round. What if i modeled the whole thing in 3d - I mean the undersleeve and the cover above it and then pull the necessary parts through. It was quite tempting but - I would get a heavier model with an extra chance of clipping in this area. That meant more problems.

Finally I decided to do something in between. I did just the visible part of the undersleeve up to the moment where it disappears under the cover. Then I modelled the cover and extruded and relaxed the geometry of the white fabric poking through.

This will also need some detailing while doing the normal map but a 3d feel of this element should be more noticeable :)

A small thing yet very important for the whole project :)

Take care guys!

K.
