Rogue-Like 1/9: Prepping for 1000 stats (Patreon)
Content
I implemented the basics of it, and it was actually easier than I thought it might be. I basically just had to add a few zeros here and there, a few multipliers elsewhere, but basically the game now understands that each core stat will cap at 1000 instead of 100, and I won't have to redo any of the approval checks throughout the game, they'll just multiply everything by ten.
Now the more tedious bit begins, where I go through the stat-ups throughout the game and decide which ones get bumped up to the new 10x scale, and which ones stay at the existing scale (otherwise it would take a TON of grind to get anywhere).
And fear not, I already have a mechanism in place, and have tested it a bit, to bump saved games up to adapt to the new system, otherwise players who were at like 80% full stats would suddenly find themselves at 8% new stats, having blown most of the good ways to earn them, and that's no fun. At least we're making this change while things are still in beta.
So this new mechanism should work to boost up your existing stats, on any save-games you have. It won't happen instantly, it will happen during "wait" phases and at the end of sex actions, so if you have a save right in the middle of something, then the stats will be left at the original values (worth about 10% as much) until you hit one of these milestones. Making it check more constantly would just be a waste of game resources.
I should point out that in general it's a good idea to make sure you have saves that are situated in a nice "safe" place when moving between versions, like in your own room maybe. I always try to make new versions as backwards compatible as possible, but you never know what bugs might occur and as a player myself, I hate to see anyone lose progress, so don't make all of your saves in precarious positions. ;)
Also, this will be in version 0.94, make sure that you download version 0.93 (the current latest version) first, and make sure to load and re-save any save files you wish to continue using, because any saves from versions 0.92 and earlier will still work, but will not receive the boosted stats, so you'll have a hard road forward from them. I'll make sure to include a link to 0.93 along with the 0.94 ones, just in case. This shouldn't be a problem moving forward, btw, the new mechanism will allow me to make cleaner updates between versions.
