So unrelated, but I just heard Carl Weathers passed, so hoping for a poll that definitely has Predator and Happy Gilmore on it

Explaining the timeline of Peter Parker's love interests (Only the one's you've met in the films) Liz Allan (Amazing Fantasy #15 June 1962) Liz crushed on Peter during the first appearance of Spider-Man/Peter Parker but she was dating Flash Thompson so nothing developed romantically. I only mention her as in the MCU we did see Peter and Liz having a little connection with Peter asking her out to Homecoming only for the shocking reveal that her father was BATMAN... I mean The Vulture. Peter and Liz were also VERY cute together in The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008 - 2009) cartoon where Peter was assigned to Mentor Liz. Allan then fell for Peter or Petey as she called him throughout their study dates but she still was dating Flash so had to maintain her dislike of nerdly Peter. During this a shy Gwen was in love with Peter but knew he had the hots for Liz while MJ tried to convince Gwen that Peter was just a little confused. High School love triangles, naturally as a TV show they were able to fit more love interests into the narrative as they had far more time to develop the characters and tell stories. Liz's design in the show inspired the MCU Liz Allan as well. Betty Brant (Amazing Spider-Man #4 June 1963) Brant is often seen as Peter's first love interest in the comics. She was the assistant to J. Jonah Jameson when a 15 year old Peter got his first job at the Daily Bugle. Classic teenage romance that didn't last that long with both breaking up but remaining close friends. Betty was played by Elizabeth Banks in the Tobey Maguire films, little hints of flirting but nothing serious. Banks is the spitting imagine of Betty from the comics, perfect casting. In the MCU Betty was played by Angourie Rice the blonde girl who dated Ned in Far From Home. Gwen Stacy (Amazing Spider-Man #31 September 1965) Gwen is often regarded as Peters first serious relationship developing during his time at Empire State University. Both Peter and Gwen actually started out liking other people but throughout her time in the comics both Peter and Gwen became closer and started dating. This all changed with "The Night Gwen Stacy Died." in 1973 when Gwen Stacy was killed by Green Goblin marking a turning point for comics in general often credited as beginning the more mature and darker Bronze age of comics and moving away from the campy and light hearted Silver age. Mary Jane Watson (Amazing Spider-Man #42 August 1966) Mary Jane actually dates back to 1965 but the artists kept Mary Jane Watson's face hidden from the readers. It became a running gag where Aunt May would always bring up the lovely girl next door called Mary Jane but Peter had zero interest until 1966 when she arrived at Peter's doorstep for a blind date set up by both their aunts. Peter was stunned at her beauty (also our first time seeing MJ) but her lifestyle was a bit too much for Peter with both going there separate ways yet always finding themselves together down the road. Felicia Hardy/Black Cat (Amazing Spider-Man #194 April 1979) Felicia is VERY much Marvel's Catwoman with Spider-Man and Black Cat sharing a similar relationship to The Bat & The Cat. She's the first relationship that Peter met while as Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker. Both dated and became costumed partners with both having a close on-again off-again relationship. Felicia Hardy actually shows up in Amazing Spider-Man 2 played by Felicity Jones so that was no doubt Sony setting up something. So why use Gwen Stacy in this film? Well it's just a case of the writers pulling from a different element of Spider-Man's comics. The Amazing Spider-Man films wanted to showcase the relationship between Peter and Gwen. They brought Gwen into the High School environment instead of College, something the Ultimate Universe comics did as well by having Gwen be apart of Peter's friend group at Midtown High alongside MJ and Harry. Like I mentioned when talking about the Liz Allen The Spectacular Spider-Man show also did this as well with Peter, Gwen, Harry, and MJ being close friends during High School, Instead of introducing Gwen and MJ during his College Years. This would allow them to showcase the death of Captain Stacy an element from the comics that has hunted Spider-Man for years and then the Death of Gwen Stacy a major part of Spider-Mans story. MJ did have scenes in Amazing Spider-Man 2 but she was cut from the final film. It would've set up a possible love interest in a sequel but I guess we'll never know.
