Another Ray Liotta movie to check out is "Operation Dumbo Drop", it's a Vietnam based movie with Danny Glover

The scenes where Tommy shot Spider in the foot and then killed him really happened, and they wanted us to see how little life meant to "the Goodfellas" day-by-day...

There is a really unusual unofficial “sequel” to goodfellas. It’s called “My Blue heaven” and it’s a straight up comedy about Ray Liotta’s character in witness protection (though he has a different name)… and he’s played by Steve Martin.

We used to have 2 Christmas trees, one fancy and in a different room we had an eclectic memory, but it was only 3/4 size. The eclectic one was always my favorite. Sibling to sibling gifts went under the eclectic one and all others went under the other.

"That is an insane amount of cocaine." SCARFACE enters the room.......

Bravehome

Robert De Niro: One of his best is Midnight Run. It's got mob, but also great music, action, humor, and a satisfying ending. +Charles Grodin in what I think is his best role.

Bravehome

Need a Patreon Poll for Ashleigh's Mob Name: 1. Carrot Top 2. Jabberwocky 3. Frank n' Beans

The two scenes with Spider were key in that it shows what an unrepentent psychopath the Tommy character is. Yeah, you could argue that we saw that with his murder of Billy Batts, but the audience still sympathizes with Tommy. Bill Batts is, after all, a scumbag who took delight in taunting Tommy with the "shoe shining" thing. Spider, on the other hand, was just some poor kid who messed up a drink order. This moment is meant to turn the audience on Tommy. We don't sympathize, nor are we really amused by, that character after that point. It was a key moment for the real life Henry Hill in that it made him aware just how evil Tommy was undeneath his affable, "funny" demeanor, and it was then the he started to become seriously disillusioned with this life of crime he had been living.

If you want to continue with the mob theme and Robert De Niro, but are looking for something on the lighter side, let me highly recommend "Analyze This" from 1999. Just let me say that Robert De Niro costarring with Billy Crystal in a mob movie is something EXTRA special.

Yeah, I'm just not a big fan of the "mobster/mafia" genre myself. I can appreciate Godfather, et all, for their cinematic impact, they're just not my jam. I do prefer the "Film Noir" genre, which is more what "Chinatown" would be categorized as. I like "The Untouchables" but it's more focused more on the law enforcement side than the gangsters so maybe that's why I like it better. Ray Liotta is great in Goodfellas though, I really enjoyed him in "Corinna, Corinna" and he's good in "Field of Dreams," though he doesn't have a very big part in it, tbh.
