Jose Ferrer played Cyrano in the 1950 classic film. He won an Oscar for Best Actor, and it was well-deserved. A bit of trivia: Savienen de Cyrano de Bergerac was a real person. I don't know that his nose was over-large, but he _did_ fight a duel against 100 men...and _won_.

Steve Martin, while definitely handsome, will always be THE Dad I always wanted because of “Father of the Bride”(1&2) those movies are just so pure and special. Hope they’re on your Steve Martin list :)

Before my parents and I started watching the reaction I said I haven’t seen this movie in 20 years. I remember liking it then, but have no idea if it holds up. Is it just more standard 80s fare? Nope. I forgot all about the great humour. The old ladies, and especially all the scenes with the fire department. We were laughing with you watching this. This movie is very well done. And I don’t even like rom-coms.
